The Anne E. Casey Foundation finds that child poverty in Tennessee is soaring. With a child poverty rate of 26%, Tennessee looks bad even in a nation long infamous for having the highest child poverty rate among the developed nations.Red states like Tennessee tend to rank at the bottom in a nation that is shamefully negligent when it comes to taking care of its children. If the state of Tennessee was a parent, s/he would be serving time in prison for criminal negligence.
Asking our 'leaders' do something about this worsening problem does as much good as slamming our heads against a brick wall. No doubt, we'll just have to wait for the riots in the streets.
