Obama Broken Promises: DEA Raids Medical Marijuana Club

Only one week after U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder vowed to end the federal busts on medical marijuana dispensaries, the DEA raided Emmalyn's medical marijuana collective in San Francisco (on March 25, 2009)! The angry crowd chanted: DEA Go Away, Listen to Obama.

Meanwhile the question of legalizing marijuana received 92,000 responses in Obama's online Town Hall forum, so many people responded to it that Obama actually responded -- jokingly. I know some cancer patients who aren't laughing. And how about all those peaceful folks whose lives have been ruined by the insanely stupid war on drugs? Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director says it best:

As for those tens of millions of you who believe that cannabis should be legally regulated like alcohol — and the tens of thousands of you who voted to make this subject the most popular question in today’s online Presidential Town Hall — well, your voice doesn’t really matter. Asked this morning whether he “would … support the bill currently going through the California legislation to legalize and tax marijuana, boosting the economy and reducing drug cartel related violence,” the President responded with derision. . . Sorry Obama, this time the joke’s on you.
