Was Cheney Tanked?

Was Cheney tanked when he shot a 78 year-old man instead of a bird? What other reason could there be for the VP to lay low for so long?

Cheney shot Whittington in the face on a Saturday, but the public wasn't informed until Sunday. When a deputy tried to question Cheney on Saturday, the Secret Service turned him away. The VP wasn't questioned by the Sheriff's department until Sunday. That leaves plenty of time for sobering up. And how bizarre for the Vice President of the United States to permit a private citizen to tell the world that the VP shot a man.

"The vice president and Mrs. Armstrong agreed that the first priority was Mr. Whittington's medical care," McBride said. "They also agreed that the media should be notified, and the decision was made for Mrs. Armstrong to contact the press locally, so she reached out to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times." "It just kind of ended up in my lap," Armstrong said. "The vice president agreed, since it was our ranch, to let us handle it the way we thought was best."

But then the private citizen just happens to be a Bush pioneer who goes way back with Rove.

Mrs. Armstrong spoke with Rove only a little more than an hour after Cheney shot the 78 year-old man.

As if all this isn't bad enough, now the White House is blaming the victim. As the Bushies tell it, the gun shot victim was careless for being in the sight of the VP for Torture. (See the previous link for hunters who disagree.)

And Cheney is still laying low. He has yet to make a public statement and is, in fact, avoiding reporters. I don't see a reasonable explanation for this bizarre behavior other than: Cheney has something to hide.

Alcohol would certainly explain mistaking a 78 year-old man for a bird.
