Misogyny Watch: 'Progressive' Menz Count the Months of Sarah Palin's Pregnancies!

John McCain knew what he was doing when he chose Sarah Palin for his VP. Already the male dominated lefty blogosphere is exploding with misogyny. And all of those alienated women voters, who were thinking of coming back to the Democratic Party, are thinking again.

The 'progressive' men are actually counting the months of the woman's pregnancies! That's right folks. The formerly progressive netroots is trying to bring Sarah Palin down by proving that she is a slut! The menz over at Americablog (and followers) fervently hope to prove that one of Sarah Palin's children was conceived "out of wedlock!"

This story is not to be confused with the ongoing netroots effort to shame the Palin family by proving that Sarah Palin's teenage daughter is a slut.

A woman enters the presidential race and suddenly the progressive mission is to shame and mortify Sarah Palin, her children, her husband, and every woman who has ever found herself in a similar situation. And then no one will ever vote for Sarah Palin again because she's a slut!?!?

John Aravosis imagines that we are still living in the Victorian Era when women were so devastated by public shaming that they committed suicide. Way to go John Aravosis! And we thought you already held the record for alienating women voters with your vile misogynistic posts about Hillary Rodham Clinton. There's just something about ambitious women that brings out the inner misogynistic creep.

And note John Aravosis' sick and puritanically deranged premise that an "out of wedlock" conception equates to an 'illegitimate' child! Many of us thought we had finally retired that sick and child-abusive term back in the 1960s!

Americablog - Sarah Palin and children conceived out of wedlock - an uncomfortable question needs to be posed:

Joe and I discussed this post before writing it. We weren't even sure we were comfortable posting this because, as Democrats and progressives, we don't pass judgment on children born out of wedlock, or their parents. . . But . . .

1. Sarah Palin's first son, Track Palin, was born in April 1989 (we don't have the exact day). Actually now we do, courtesy of FOX News' Alan Colmes. He was born on April 20. For the purposes of this analysis, we will give Sarah Palin the benefit of the doubt and assume that her son was born on April 30, 1989, the longest possible April date from her marriage.

2. Sarah Palin was married on August 29, 1988. She eloped.

3. 38 weeks is the typical human pregnancy.

4. 38 weeks before her son's birthday, April 20, 1989, is July 28, 1988 - i.e., that would be the hypothetical day of conception.

5. If this data is correct, that would mean that Sarah Palin eloped four weeks after her son's conception.

6. Sarah Palin's son could still be legitimate if he was born four weeks premature, AND if he was conceived on the night his parents eloped. . .

Again, Joe and I aren't very comfortable discussing these kind of issues . .

CNN’s Sexist John Roberts: Why Isn't Sarah Palin at Home with Her Baby? (Video)

Here we go again. John McCain announces that Sarah Palin is his running mate and the sexists start falling out of the woodwork.

Women can have babies and jobs too? Who knew?

Suddenly I am a big fan of Dana Bash. We need more women like her on cable news. Most times the women on the male-dominated cable news either keep their mouths shut or agree with the sexist men in charge. This time Dana Bash matter-of-factly put sexist John Roberts in his place (video clip below). Tell CNN about it! (And see Sarah Palin's view in the 2nd video clip.)

Bonus MSNBC Sexism: Also in the video clip, Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd argue that Joe Biden will have to be gentle when he debates Sarah Palin because she's a girl!!! The MSNBC pundits do not explain why the men were so free to gang up on Hillary Rodham Clinton on the primary debate stage.

video via Media Matters: CNN’s John Roberts: "There's also this issue that on April 18th, she gave birth to a baby with Down's Syndrome.... Children with Down's syndrome require an awful lot of attention. The role of Vice President, it seems to me, would take up an awful lot of her time, and it raises the issue of how much time will she have to dedicate to her newborn child?"

Dana Bash: "That's a very good question, and I guess -- my guess is that, perhaps, the line inside the McCain campaign would be, if it were a man being picked who also had a baby, but -- you know, four months ago with Down's Syndrome, would you ask the same question?"

Sarah Palin: Let's Shatter the Glass Ceiling that Hillary Cracked (Video)

Wow. Just wow. You should have picked Hillary, Barack! Here's to breaking this country's shameful male monopoly on power. It's just too effing bad that the job has fallen to the Republicans because the Democratic Party threw women under the bus!

Palin: Women Aren't Finished with that Glass Ceiling

"I can't begin this great effort without honoring the achievement of Geraldine Ferraro in 1984 and of course, Hillary Clinton, who showed determination in her presidential campaign," Palin said. "It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America. But it turns out the women of America aren't finished yet, and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all."

WaPo - The Trail: Ha! Say the Online Hillary Supporters

Forbes: The Republican presidential candidate shocked the campaign Friday by picking first-term Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, 44, as his running mate. It's a signature move from the maverick veteran senator, one clearly designed to energize the Republican party, counter Democratic nominee Barack Obama's message of generational change and court women voters.

MSNBC: McCain picks Palin as running mateAlaska governor to be first female Republican VP nominee — Sarah Palin, mother of five, is Alaska's first female governor and the first woman to run on a Republican presidential ticket.

"Both campaigns seemed to have decided that Hillary Clinton's 18 millions voters represent a key swing bloc in this election -- both Barack Obama's speech and John McCain's pick were at least partially aimed at them."

Sarah Palin is John McCain's VP Pick!

CNN just confirmed, Sarah Palin is John McCain's running mate!

I'll say it again: Karma is a bitch Barack! You should have picked Hillary!

I'll update this in a bit.

McCain's VP Watch: Sarah Palin Is in Dayton Ohio?

UPDATE: Sarah Palin: Let's Shatter the Glass Ceiling that Hillary Cracked (Video)

McCain's VP Watch: Sarah Palin Is in Dayton Ohio?

Update: A headline in the Chicago Tribune reads: Source: Sarah Palin is John McCain's pick for vice president: A Republican source confirms that John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Campaign officials, however, remain mum this morning. And another source! CNBC also says it's her! Dana Bash on CNN says Palin is now viewed as the most likely pick! We'll know at 11:00 this a.m. [via Ed Morrissey]

Looking for clues about McCain's imminent VP pick, CNN reports that a private jet from Anchorage, Alaska arrived just outside of Dayton, Ohio last night. John McCain is expected to announce his pick for Vice President in Dayton today.

CNN dubbed the flight as extremely "secretive," and reported that a woman and 2 teens were seen getting off the plane. I seriously doubt if John McCain is courageous and smart enough to pick a woman. But if Governor Sarah Palin should actually be his VP pick, the GOP's problem of a dull and boring and lifeless ticket would suddenly be a thing of the past!

Never mind that she's young and attractive, Sarah Palin - the Alaskan Governor - has an astonishingly high approval rating - in the 80s!

If Sarah Palin is McCain's VP pick, large numbers of women will once again tune into politics. And karma will once again prove to be a total bitch for Barack Obama and the party elders of the undemocratic Democratic Party!

Barack Obama should have begged Hillary Rodham Clinton to be on his Democratic ticket. John McCain may well be about to bring that chilling fact home to Barack Obama.

Update: Pawlenty is NOT going to Ohio Today

Obama's Mile-High Speech

Reportedly, Obama's acceptance speech will offer what everyone has been clamoring for -- "substance rather than rhetoric."

As the New York Times editorialized yesterday, Obama needs to be clear about what he and the Democratic Party stand for. Barack Obama should strive to be just as clear as Hillary Rodham Clinton has been about what the Democratic Party stands for:

On Tuesday night, Mrs. Clinton passionately argued that the Democratic Party believes in health care for all, progressive taxation, Social Security, fighting against poverty and for gay rights. The Republicans, she said, support a “government where the privileged come first and everyone else comes last.”

ABC Reporter Arrested for Taking Photos of Democratic Senators & VIP Donors (Video)

ABC News: DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel. Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.

During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, "You're lucky I didn't knock the f..k out of you." . . Eslocker and his ABC News colleagues are spending the week investigating the role of corporate lobbyists and wealthy donors at the convention for a series of Money Trail reports on ABC's "World News with Charles Gibson."

Or as Dan Rather says, the real DNC story is "who gives the big money to whom, expecting to get what."

Mediabistro: Perhaps the greatest indication of the impact of Brian Ross's investigative work at the Conventions occurred today when Denver police arrested one of his producer/reporters.

MSNBC Meltdown in Denver (Video)

There's trouble at the Misogyny Network. And it couldn't happen to a more deserving network of woman-hating jerks. Seriously it's high comedy time at MSNBC. If you need a good laugh, watch the video clip below.

Everyone already knows that Keith Olbermann is an egomaniac who feuds with everyone. But Keith's latest feud with Chris Matthews is more fun to watch than the misogyny we've grown accustomed to at MSNBC. And now Joe Scarborough is feuding with David "Pimping" Shuster. And we learn that Shuster has a problem getting out of bed in the morning. And both Olbermann and Matthews are taking cheap shots at Howard Wolfson. But MSNBC is the Cheap Shot Network. It pains me to say this, but the conservative Joe Scarborough is one of a very few MSNBC men whom I wouldn't cross the street to avoid.

"I'm not going to take any lectures on how to be a good Democrat from two people (Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews) who spent the last two years relentlessly attacking Bill and Hillary Clinton everyday."

Bill Clinton's Democratic Convention Speech, with 4 Minute Standing Ovation (Video)

After the shameful lies and character assassination dumped on Bill Clinton by the tabloid mainstream media and the Obama Team, it was good to see Bill get the kind of loving reception he so deserves. The 1st video includes the Democratic love raining down on Bill Clinton reception. The 2nd video has his full speech.

Reportedly Bill was given a 10 minute limit on his speech (but there's at least 10 minutes of wild applause tacked on). All speeches were vetted (censored) by the Obama Team except for Bill's, reports The Hill. Dennis Kucinich's line about Republicans was stricken: "They're asking for another four years -- in a just world, they'd get 10 to 20." Because you wouldn't want to offend Republicans at a Democratic Convention!

Obama Speech Stage Resembles Ancient Greek Temple (Photo)

Caption This!

ABC NEWS:
DENVER (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.

Gawd. Can you say laughingstock? And you thought the Obama presidential seal was bad. Is this a junior high pageant? Or Obamaegomania gone wild? Right-wingers are already having a field day. Gawd! Why do I think John McCain's new ad is going to be titled: 'Worse than Kerry's windsurfing'?

Hillary Supporters 'NOT Big on Quitting'

Washington Post: Clinton said Tuesday night that it is Obama's convention. But many of her supporters came here exclusively to honor her. One group traveled from New York and built an impromptu museum commemorating Clinton's historic campaign. Another lighted thousands of candles in a park to symbolize her widespread support.

On Tuesday morning, hundreds of loyalists formed a 200-yard parade and marched through downtown. They shouted into loudspeakers and beat drums, creating a cacophony that echoed across the blocks. As they began marching, some of the supporters chanted, "We want a roll call." Many of them wore their opinions on T-shirts: Country Over Party. Damn, We Wish You Were President. Still Making History. Democrats Left Behind. .

At the front of the parade route, one banner summarized their message: Hillary. Who Else?

. . Perhaps the best example of the persistent divide in the Democratic Party came after Clinton's speech Tuesday night. The lights went down in the Pepsi Center, and some influential Democrats left downtown for good.

Hillary's Speech: The President We Should Have Had (Video)

Who could possibly listen to Hillary Rodham Clinton's speech in Denver last night and not think about what a tremendous president we could have had? The Democratic Party really blew it. And our culture gets more shallow and stupid all the time. We got good old boy G. W. Bush instead of policy wonk and intellectual Al Gore. And now we get a flashy performer who can make the girls faint but stands and fights for nothing, instead of a woman who is a courageous fighter and has detailed knowledge of what Bush has done and what it’s going to take to fix it.

The idea of choosing a candidate based on sweet talking charm instead of experience and smarts is so incredibly shallow and stupid, but that's what just happened. Oh well. She may not be the nominee, but this male-dominated country now has a national leader who is a woman. We can't call her Madame President yet, but at long last, the women of this country have a beloved national leader who is actually a woman.

While I was sleeping, Lady Boomer pulled this relevant message from Hillary's speech:

Your determination to keep going, often in the face of enormous obstacles . . . you taught me so much.

To my supporters, to my champions, to my sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, because you never gave in, and you never gave up. Together we made history. . . .

And even in the darkest moments, that is what Americans have done: we have found the faith to keep going. . . .

My mother was born before women could vote, my daughter got to vote for her mother for President. This is the story of America, of women and men who defy the odds and never give up.

So how do we give this country back to them? By following the example of a brave New Yorker, a woman who risked her lives to bring slaves to freedom along the underground railroad.

On that path to freedom, Harriet Tubman had one piece of advice:

‘If you hear the dogs, keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If they’re shouting after you, keep going. Don’t ever stop, keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.’

And even in the darkest moments. That is what Americans have done. We have found the faith to keep going.

Hillary's Women Protest & Speak Out in Denver

via Newsday's Spin Cycle: What they're saying at the protest/march by 18 Million Voices, which advocates for women's rights and is celebrating Hillary Clinton's achievements.

Toni Alves, PUMA (Party Unity My ASS) member, San Francisco:

"I’m marching because of the treatment Hillary received during the primaries. She was treated so unfairly by the media and the DNC,and no one stood up to say anything about it until after they’d asked her to leave. And that was ridiculous. The media totally geared and led this campaign.

"Obama wasn’t elected, he was selected. If you look at all the caucus fraud, you’ll see his delegate lead was only in the red states. …she won the popular vote and she should be the nominee.

"We’re here to represent Hillary Clinton and show her that we’re not going to follow the party line like we’ve always done. Four years ago, we held our noses and voted for Kerry. We didn’t think he was the best candidate. But we’ve always voted democratic. I’ve been a Democrat for 40 years this year, and if Obama is the nominee I’ll vote for McCain.

"I will not support Obama. He’s not qualified. The whole system was totally fraudulent. He claimed to be something before, in the primaries, that was different, that was a new kind of politics, but he’s not. He’s not Washington politics, he’s Chicago-style politics and that’s even worse.

"These people are trying to scare us about Roe v. Wade. Well, you know what? I am beyond my reproductive years. I don’t care. it’s time for these young Obama women who think it’s so cool to support him, they can worry about their own reproductive rights."

Diane Schrack, Highlands Ranch, Colorado, artist:

"One of the basic fundamental platforms of the DNC is against sexism. During the primary race, the DNC was not only silent but in some cases participated in sexism. None of the leadership of the Democratic Party – Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid -- none of them came out and said sexism is wrong, don’t do it.

"Because it was OK on the upper level, the national level, it was OK on the local level, too. The DNC is deeply guilty. It’s so frustrating. It makes me want to become an unaffiliated voter. I am a Democrat. My goal is to make Democrats think about what we’re losing here. If we’re going to give up women in this race, who’s next? Who are they going to give up next time?

"Antisemitism? Let’s have a little bit of that. Or next time let’s have a little bit of racism, or maybe have a little bit of gay bashing next time.

"They sacrificed women because they could take their vote for granted, and that is not what Democrats stand for!"

Anguished Hillary Delegate Speaks Out After Hillary's Speech at DNC (Video)

Many Clinton Supporters Say Speech Didn't Heal Divisions: Weeping, Dawn Yingling, a 44-year-old single mother from Indianapolis, said that the speech was "fabulous" but that she still isn't going to work for the Obama campaign. "She was fabulous, nothing less than I expected. It's hard to sit here and think about she would have accomplished. We're not stupid -- we're not going to vote for John McCain," she said. But she'll limit her campaigning to a House candidate. "It will take a Congress as well as a president. That's what I can do and be true to who I am."

When the Loser Happens to Be a Woman

Quote of the Day

In her 2003 memoir, "Living History," this is how Clinton described her reaction to her earliest political loss, during her senior year in high school: "I ran for student government president against several boys and lost, which did not surprise me but still hurt, especially because one of my opponents told me I was 'really stupid if I thought a girl could be elected president.' As soon as the election was over, the winner asked me to head the Organizations Committee, which as far as I could tell was expected to do most of the work. I agreed."

. . . [I]t is usually the job of the party nominee to build unity once a vanquished rival has conceded and made the right gestures. Unless the loser happens to be a woman. Then it's just like high school, and she must do the work.

New Politics in Denver: Blue Dog Democrats Party with AT&T

So, AT&T threw a fancy party for the Blue Dog Democrats last night in Denver. Glenn Greenwald, Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher, John Amato, Matt Stoller and others were barred from the event, along with all other press. The presumptive nominee may not have been there, but Barack Obama has certainly paid the price of admission.

Glenn Greenwald:

Last night in Denver, at the Mile High Station -- next to Invesco Stadium, where Barack Obama will address a crowd of 30,000 people on Thursday night -- AT&T threw a lavish, private party for Blue Dog House Democrats, virtually all of whom blindly support whatever legislation the telecom industry demands and who also, specifically, led the way this July in immunizing AT&T and other telecoms from the consequences for their illegal participation in the Bush administration's warrantless spying program. Matt Stoller has one of the listings for the party here. . .

It was really the perfect symbol for how the Beltway political system functions -- those who dictate the nation's laws (the largest corporations and their lobbyists) cavorting in total secrecy with those who are elected to write those laws (members of Congress), while completely prohibiting the public from having any access to and knowledge of -- let alone involvement in -- what they are doing. And all of this was arranged by the corporation -- AT&T -- that is paying for a substantial part of the Democratic National Convention with millions upon millions of dollars, which just received an extraordinary gift of retroactive amnesty from the Congress controlled by that party, whose logo is splattered throughout the city wherever the DNC logo appears -- virtually attached to it -- all taking place next to the stadium where the Democratic presidential nominee, claiming he will cleanse the Beltway of corporate and lobbying influences, will accept the nomination on Thursday night.

Equality Day: Remembering the Dissenting Troublemaking Women of 1913

Today is Women's Equality Day. It marks the 88th anniversary of the day women finally won the right to vote in the U.S.

Hillary Rodham Clinton's speech tonight should make this day that much more memorable. The video clip below of the Great Suffrage Parade of 1913 is from Iron Jawed Angels, and the text is an excerpt from a Women's History Resource Guide over at the Library of Congress. Like they say, if you want to keep a people disempowered, you deprive them of the knowledge of their history.

Remembering the Woman Suffrage Parade of 1913:

MOB HURTS 300 SUFFRAGISTS

On Monday, March 3, 1913, lawyer Inez Milholland Boissevain, clad in a white cape and riding a white horse, led the great women's suffrage parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in the nation's capital. Behind her stretched a long procession, including nine bands, four mounted brigades, three heralds, more than 20 floats and more than 5,000 marchers. Women from countries that had enfranchised women held the place of honor in the first section of the procession. . .

Women were jeered, tripped, grabbed, shoved, and many heard "indecent epithets" and "barnyard conversation." Instead of protecting the parade, the police "seemed to enjoy all the ribald jokes and laughter, and part participated in them." One policeman remarked that the women should stay at home where they belonged. The men in the procession heard shouts of "Henpecko" and "Where are your skirts?" As one witness explained, "There was a sort of spirit of levity connected with the crowd. They did not regard the affair very seriously."

But to the women, the event was very serious. The Chicago Tribune noted that Helen Keller "was so exhausted and unnerved by the experience in attempting to reach a grandstand ... that she was unable to speak later at [Constitution Hall]." Two ambulances "came and went constantly for six hours, always impeded and at times actually opposed, so that doctor and driver literally had to fight their way to give succor to the injured." . . . read more . . .

Hillary Delegate Accuses Obama Mentor of Calling Her 'Uncle Tom'

Update: The Illinois chapter of NOW (National Organization for Women) is calling on Barack Obama’s political mentor Emil Jones "to resign immediately from the Illinois state Senate for calling an African-American Hillary Clinton delegate an 'Uncle Tom.'"

"Last night, I was called an 'Uncle Tom' by Emil Jones," charges Delmarie Cobb, an African-American delegate for Hillary Clinton. Emil Jones is Barack Obama's political mentor, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

"If people are still making digs at the Hillary Clinton people because we supported her, that is not going to bring us on board. It makes us feel as though we're outsiders, and we're Democrats," Cobb said. "The litmus test for being black is [seen as] supporting Barack."

Cobb said she saw Clinton supporters walking into an Illinois delegation meeting at the Marlowe Restaurant on Sunday and being handed Obama buttons, only to put the buttons in their pockets. That prompted the greeters to say, "You can tell the Hillary Clinton people, they never take the buttons."

Hillary's Message to Delegates

Quote of the Day

"I will be telling my delegates that I will vote for Barack Obama. How they vote is a more personal decision. They want to have their chance to vote for me. That is what traditionally happens ... some people are having to make up their minds because there are arguments pulling them both ways."

DNC: Bill Clinton's Assigned Speech Topic

Politico reports that Bill Clinton has been ordered to give a speech arguing that "Obama would be a more effective commander in chief than his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain." Call me crazy, but it seems like a former president should be free to choose his own speech topic.

Politico: Tensions boil between Obama-Clinton camps:

DENVER — As Democrats arrived here Sunday for a convention intended to promote party unity, mistrust and resentments continued to boil among top associates of presumptive nominee Barack Obama and his defeated rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

One flashpoint is the assigned speech topic for former president Bill Clinton, who is scheduled to speak Wednesday night, when the convention theme is “Securing America’s Future.” The night’s speakers will argue that Obama would be a more effective commander in chief than his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain (Ariz.).

The former president is disappointed, associates said, because he is eager to speak about the economy and more broadly about Democratic ideas — emphasizing the contrast between the Bush years and his own record in the 1990s. This is an especially sore point for Bill Clinton, people close to him say, because among many grievances he has about the campaign Obama waged against his wife is a belief that the candidate poor-mouthed the political and policy successes of his two terms.

Some senior Obama supporters are irritated at how they perceive the Clintons fanned — or at a minimum failed to douse — stories that she was not even vetted as a possible vice presidential nominee. This is because she told Obama she preferred not to go through the rigorous process of document production unless she was really a serious contender, an Obama associate noted. .

While Bill Clinton remains angry about how he and his wife were treated by both Obama backers and the news media — and he is particularly resentful at what he sees as unfair allegations that he tried to exploit racial divisions for political advantage — he has made the decision that he will put forward a positive face for Obama’s benefit at Denver. It is harder to do that when the topic is foreign policy and national security, which lends itself to restrained, rather than boisterous, partisan rhetoric.

Bill Clinton not happy with convention role

Hillary Voters Spoiling the Obama Party

At long last, the Democratic National Convention is here. And the cable news boyz are salivating over the prospects of a whole week of Clinton bashing. We haven't even seen any speeches yet or any of the Clinton delegates who have the nerve to flaunt their "Women for Hillary" buttons on sacred Obama ground. Yet already, CNN's Roland Martin is fitfully emoting, raising his voice and contorting his face, about all the "Clinton-Obama drama."

Why oh why, lectures Roland, can't Hillary and her supporters put party over "your petty personal issues." Roland also threw around the word "dumb," but refused to specify if he was calling Hillary "dumb" or her supporters. And we were just getting used to the term "dead-enders."

But you heard him. Fall in line little wimin! Or in the words of Barack Obama, just 'get over it.'

Ooops. Somebody isn't falling in line. In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll taken after Obama announced his VP pick, 27 percent of Hillary supporters say they’ll vote for McCain, up from 16 percent in late June. "The number of Clinton Democrats who say they would vote for McCain has gone up 11 points since June."

Yet another poll, the USA Today/Gallup, puts the number of Hillary supporters who will vote for McCain, someone other than Obama, or no one at all, at 30 percent.

With the brothers Roland Martin and Jack Caffetry lecturing the little wimin about our "petty personal issues," the numbers of rebellious women can only increase.

[W]e're hearing reports that Hillary's team have asked her pledged delegates to vote for her on the roll call vote. BINDING VOTE LAWS: We have now identified 12 states which have Binding Voter Laws, 9 of which voted for Hillary Clinton, some like California, Kentucky and Massachusetts by large numbers. Please be sure that all delegates from these 12 states - Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia - know about the law. McCain Uses Words of Biden & Hillary Against Obama in TV Ads (Video)

It's 3 a.m. and something important is happening somewhere in the world, or a new political ad has been released for your viewing in this seemingly never-ending election madness. Kate Phillips at The Caucus reports that only 3 hours after the Obama Team sent out that important 3 a.m. text announcement, the McCain campaign was ready to roll with its first anti Biden ad. And the ad wrote itself; it's nothing more than Senator Joe Biden’s own critical words about Senator Barack Obama.

This next McCain ad features Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's own critical words from the primary about her opponent Barack Obama. The ad was released at, you guessed it, 3 a.m. 'Passed Over':

CNN: Some in Clinton circle ‘outraged’ - Even as Hillary Clinton praised the newly-minted Democratic presidential ticket Saturday, some in her circle are furious Barack Obama did not appear to give the New York Democrat serious consideration for the No. 2 spot, or even ask for her consultation on the matter.

Obama Picks a Bro: It's Biden

It's official. Obama picks Joe Biden for Vice President.

And there goes the last chance for party unity.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, the candidate who earned 18 million votes, was not even vetted. We're sure Biden's 200 voters are simply thrilled. The rest of us, well, just call us marginalized and invisible.

Back in the 1990s, Biden was the leader of the pack of 14 white male senators who conducted the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings. The committee of 14 men threw every sexist stereotype in the book at Anita Hill. Like Hillary, Joe Biden voted to authorize the war in Iraq, but that's so not a problem when a bro does it.

MSNBC reports that the Obamabots are still breathlessly awaiting that text message the text message was sent at 3 a. m. Team Obama couldn't resist one last dig at Hillary, because we are all in junior high now.

And check out what Melissa at Shakesville wrote last week: "[T]here's no way in blue hell that Obama could be foolish enough to be seriously considering for one blinking second putting on his ticket the speech plagiarizing, bankruptcy bill voting, Bush-coddling, racist, sexist asshat Biden, a consummate gaffe machine who launched his own '08 presidential bid with a screeching dog whistle that declared Obama "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

Jeralyn at TalkLeft: "[T]he Obama-Biden belief that we shouldn't antagonize Republicans, but work to bring them into our party is completely distasteful to me. I didn't vote for my senators and congresspersons to make nice in Congress. I voted for the ones I thought would fight for Democratic ideals, not water them down to be acceptable to people whose policy views I vehemently disagree with."

TalkLeft: Joe Biden is No Progressive on Crime Issues.
Patrick Ruffini - The Next Right: Joe Biden vs. Joe Biden's Mouth: Please, PLEASE, let it be him.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Pundits Pray VP Hillary Will Save Obama

CNN pundits obsessed yesterday about how Hillary Rodham Clinton can save Barack Obama if only she will, or if only he will pick her as his VP. First the pundits trash her and push her out of the race, and now suddenly they remember that she can get votes and, unlike Obama, she's a fighter, so now they desperately pray that Hillary will rescue The One.

Obama: In Need of a Game Changer -- David Gergen, CNN: "If he were to surprise the country — and the press — by naming Hillary Clinton as his running mate, he could turn the race upside down. No one else would so galvanize the Democrats, bring a fighter to his side, and send a clear message that an Obama administration would bring experience to solving problems both at home and abroad.”

Should Obama Choose Clinton? -- Bill Schneider: "[A new poll] shows Obama leading McCain by three points. If Clinton were at the top of the ticket, she would be leading McCain by six.”

Unified Party? Clinton As VP Might Do It --Columbus Dispatch: "If Obama really wants to unify the party and win the key states of Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania, he should … choose Clinton as his running mate.”

Veepstakes: One Last Clinton Scenario - John Nichols, The Nation: "Barack Obama might just need Hillary Clinton."

Clinton Is VP Favorite Among Dem Delegates -- CBS News: "Sen. Hillary Clinton is by far the favorite choice for the number two spot on the Democratic ticket, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll of delegates to the Democratic convention.”

Obama Drops in Electoral Vote Forecasts: For the first time, Sen. Barack Obama dropped below 270 votes over at Electoral-Vote.com and Sen. John McCain is actually ahead in the RCP tally.

Chris Matthews: The Hillary Factor (Video)

Chris Matthews is back from vacation and back to his favorite subject of Hlllary Rodham Clinton. Last night's show featured Just Say No Deal co-founder Diane Mantavoulos.

Here's the passage that idiot Matthews lifted the phrase "my opponent" from in his usual dishonest distortion of her meaning: HILLARY CLINTON: I am doing everything I can to campaign for Senator Obama. I think it's fair to say that I have done more, as Senator Rich said, in a relatively short period of time, on behalf of my opponent, than probably anyone else has.

She was supposed to say: 'I have done more on behalf of Obama than probably anyone else has?'

Riverdaughter has more.

Women Set to Raise a Little Hell In Denver

Quote of the Day

"This passion won't go away. Obama and McCain will have to answer to the women of America. .

[W]e will always believe that Hillary would have made an incredible President, but when I say the passion won't go away, I mean the passion for getting real healthcare that covers everyone will not go away. I mean the passion for ensuring that we have a fair political process, that is welcoming of all voices and all ages, won't go away. I mean the passion for equal representation for 51% of the population in the halls of Congress and state capitols across our country won't go away. That is what WomenCount was launched to fight for."

In an article entitled Hillary's Hellions, the New York Post reports on some of the plans that some of the recently formed women's groups have in store for next week's Democratic National Convention in Denver. Women sure are busy these days. Hillary, what have you done?

1) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will "headline an event hosted by WomenCount and the group will "relaunch" in Denver "as a 'MoveOn.org for women's issues and ideas.'"

2) Just Say No Deal "has rented a multimedia loft for 'Democratic bloggers who chose not to fall in line' and support Obama. . Sunday night, it will host an event to air a documentary, 'The Audacity of Democracy,' which chronicles" the undemocratic primary behavior of the Democratic National Committee.

3) The Denver Group "has acquired two time slots to air TV ads reminding delegates and superdelegates of their rights and responsibilities and to 'make clear what the consequences may very well be for the Democratic Party if they do not.'"

4) 18 Million Voices "will put the spotlight on Clinton when its members march in Denver to celebrate her candidacy."

5) It's not mentioned in the Post, but Puma PAC and The Rise will hold an event to commemorate Hillary Rodham Clinton’s historic presidential campaign on August 25th: Beautiful Protest and Rise. The event will take place in downtown Denver’s Cheesman Park.

Bring candles!!!

6) Also, there will be Women's Equality Day celebrations all over the country starting this weekend, so check your local news and we'd love to hear all about it here at TGW.

And there's your news of women's subversive work for the day.
