Pundits Pray VP Hillary Will Save Obama

CNN pundits obsessed yesterday about how Hillary Rodham Clinton can save Barack Obama if only she will, or if only he will pick her as his VP. First the pundits trash her and push her out of the race, and now suddenly they remember that she can get votes and, unlike Obama, she's a fighter, so now they desperately pray that Hillary will rescue The One.

Obama: In Need of a Game Changer -- David Gergen, CNN: "If he were to surprise the country — and the press — by naming Hillary Clinton as his running mate, he could turn the race upside down. No one else would so galvanize the Democrats, bring a fighter to his side, and send a clear message that an Obama administration would bring experience to solving problems both at home and abroad.”

Should Obama Choose Clinton? -- Bill Schneider: "[A new poll] shows Obama leading McCain by three points. If Clinton were at the top of the ticket, she would be leading McCain by six.”

Unified Party? Clinton As VP Might Do It --Columbus Dispatch: "If Obama really wants to unify the party and win the key states of Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania, he should … choose Clinton as his running mate.”

Veepstakes: One Last Clinton Scenario - John Nichols, The Nation: "Barack Obama might just need Hillary Clinton."

Clinton Is VP Favorite Among Dem Delegates -- CBS News: "Sen. Hillary Clinton is by far the favorite choice for the number two spot on the Democratic ticket, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll of delegates to the Democratic convention.”

Obama Drops in Electoral Vote Forecasts: For the first time, Sen. Barack Obama dropped below 270 votes over at Electoral-Vote.com and Sen. John McCain is actually ahead in the RCP tally.
