Wow. The Governor of Illinois has been arrested and charged with corruption - including trying to sell or barter Barack Obama's senate seat!
“Unless I get something real good [for Senate candidate 1], s***, I’ll just send myself, you know what I’m saying,” Blagojevich was taped saying on November 3rd, the day before Election Day.
Blagojevich, a Democrat, added that the Senate seat “is a f***ing valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”
... In a discussion with John Harris, his chief of staff, and another adviser that was taped by the FBI, the governor said if Obama picked him to serve as Secretary of HHS he would appoint “Senate Candidate 1.”
Admit it. You were wondering if Barack Obama is involved. He has not been accused of anything, but I want to know who Candidate 1 is!
"I want to make money," the affidavit quotes the governor as saying. U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said in a statement that "the breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering."
Governor Blagojevich had one offer of $500,000. Has that person been arrested? Yet? Before his arrest, the Governor had a 13% approval rating. Bush and the Republicans are so loving this!
Update: Candidate 5 is probably Jesse Jackson Jr., and the jerk appears to be as popular with Obama as he is with Hillary supporters. M. Ambinder: "if Blago doesn't get what he wanted, then he'd stiff the PEOTUS by appointing someone he didn't like -- Senate Candidate 5." -- Also, Obama wanted the seat to go to Candidate 1 - Valerie Jarret.
