In the year 2008, pigs fly, or right-wingers are fighting sexism. If this keeps up, misogyny may one day be as much of a societal taboo as racism certainly is. I don't expect to live to see that day, but I do intend to work for it.
Michelle Malkin compares the respectful treatment awarded to Barack Obama on the cover of US Magazine with the sleazy sexist treatment given to Sarah Palin on the current cover of the very same US Magazine. Does that woman look like a VP to you? Malkin displays the two covers side-by-side, and they make a profound statement about the depth of the misogyny.
Vile sexist creep and war-mongering right-winger Billy Kristol rightly mocks Democrats for the rampant misogyny they directed at Hillary Rodham Clinton and thus all women and girls. He does it in the video clip below (added to Youtube 6/29/08). Kristol predicts that Sarah Palin will be McCain's VP pick and notes that Sarah Barracuda was once a basketball star in her own right and so, Sarah can take Barack on, one on one!
RNC Victory 2008 Chair Carly Fiorina says she is appalled at Team Obama's sexism: “Because of Hillary Clinton’s historic run for the Presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly tuned than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Governor Palin.”
Michelle Malkin lists the four stages of sexism.
Fox News anchor Megan Kelly is outraged by the sexism and refuses to believe that conservative policy has anything to do with keeping women at home, all in the video clip:
Laura Bush reveals her inner feminist by warning Democrats to knock it off with the sexism: Laura Bush warns Dems away from anti-Palin sexism
Howard Kurtz reports: "Sen. John McCain's top campaign strategist accused the news media Tuesday of being "on a mission to destroy" Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by displaying "a level of viciousness and scurrilousness" in pursuing questions about her personal life. . In an extraordinary and emotional interview, Steve Schmidt said his campaign feels "under siege" by wave after wave of news inquiries that have questioned whether Palin is really the mother of a 4-month-old baby, whether her amniotic fluid had been tested and whether she would submit to a DNA test to establish the child's parentage."
Conservative blogger, Melissa Clouthier has "had it" with the sexism: "Many men, citing their own difficulties, say it’s impossible for Barack Obama to succeed both at fatherhood and as President of the country."
Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden, of Anita Hill fame, says Sarah Palin is hot: "There’s a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent. She’s good-looking."
Finally, the sexist campaign button graphic pictured above was seen at Democratic Underground, which was one of the many go-to fauxgressive sites for misogyny during Hillary Rodham Clinton's historic bid for the presidency. And, no, I'm not over it.
