Sally Field's Anti War Speech Censored in US, but Not In Canada (Video)

Fox Censors Sally Field's Feminist Speech

Emmy winner Sally Field dared to make an anti war and feminist acceptance speech, naturally it was censored in the U.S., but not in Canada. That's because speech is freer in Canada, and so are women.

"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" Emmy winner Sally Field said before the Emmycast cut her off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Cut off were the words "god-damned wars in the first place."

"At the heart of [her character] Nora Walker, she is a mother," Field said on stage. “May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised, and to especially the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait – wait for their children to come home for from danger, from harm’s way and from war. I’m not finished. I have to finish talking … if the mothers ruled the world there would be no goddamn wars in the first place."

Update from Think Progress: Field’s censored comments not technically ‘profane.’- "... A 2004 FCC ruling specifically stated no objection to the use of “god damn” on TV."
