Montana Goes to Democrats!

Woohoo! Montana has gone to the Dems! Now all we need is Virginia and the Democrats will own the Senate too! Somebody keep Karl Rove away from the computers.

The Associated Press has declared Democrat Jon Tester the winner in the Montana Senate race, defeating incumbent Republican Sen. Conrad Burns.

Tester's victory now assures the Democrats of 50 seats in the Senate. Because of Vice President Dick Cheney's tie-breaking vote, they need 51 seats to control the chamber. Therefore, the battle for Senate control now focuses intently on Virginia, where Democrat Jim Webb holds a small lead over Republican Sen. George Allen.

And Virginia is looking really good! A Democratic controlled Senate sounds too good to be true, but it's starting to look like it's going to happen.

Update on the election that keeps on giving -- Hotline: "Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race." We believe it too!
