Fred Thompson Accused of Using NARAL Talking Points

Fred Thompson is finished -- according to social conservatives. During Freddie's Meet the Press interview earlier this week, the laid-back candidate said he does not support the GOP's pro life platform plank. You know, the one that has been supported by every GOP president since Ronnie Reagan.

Probably ole' Fred never read the GOP Party Platform.

In a stunning offense to the pro life crowd, Fred said he believes that life starts at conception, but he opposes the so-called Human Life Amendment to the Constitution. Abortion rights are a states' right issue, said Freddie. In Fred's view, abortion is murder, and murder is a states' right issue.

Sounds like a quite a moral lapse to me.

Social conservatives also have a problem with Freddie's positions on same-sex marriage and the Terri Schiavo case.

Freddie may not be invited to Washington, D.C. next January 22 for the annual anti choice March for Life. That too is all about the adoption of the so-called Human Life Amendment.

Social conservatives were already busy fleeing to Huckabee this week when Bob Novak poured salt on Freddie's self-inflicted wounds by pointing out that not only did the Hollywood actor reject the GOP's pro life platform, but Fred Thompson actually used NARAL talking points!

According to the latest NBC News and the Wall Street Journal poll, Fred Thompson has fallen from 23 percent to 15 percent in one month. State polls put Freddie in free fall. [via]

Bye, bye Freddie.
