The Obama Administration has decreed that abortion coverage will not be permitted in the new high-risk insurance pools except for instances of rape, incest, or endangering the life of the woman. I don't see "a woman's health" in that list of exceptions. But why am I looking for "a woman's health" in a health reform bill?And good bye to all vestiges of privacy if you are a woman in the high risk pool, as the price of coverage mandates that you tell your insurance company all the dirty details of your rape.
And it doesn't matter if you pay for the insurance with your own money. The so-called feminist president has spoken.
In the department of better late than never, Planned Parenthood says "it's time to fight back against the Obama administration's abortion coverage ban now." Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, is surprised and mystified and terms the policy: "wrongheaded and inexplicable." Too bad Obama shows no signs of being even minimally concerned about the views of pro choice women, or or any lefty organization for that matter. Like he said back in 2008, where else are liberals going to go? A better question is: Where will Obama go when alienated feminists and liberals stay in bed on election day?
Change.org: It's bird ... it's a plane ... no, it's Obama, swooping in to defend the right wing against women controlling their own bodies. Not the superhero agenda I was expecting when I voted for him.
