Prop 8: Gay Marriage Ban Goes to CA Supreme Court

Proposition 8 has gone to the California Supreme Court. The Court will hear the case about the will of the majority vs. the rights of the minority beginning today.

Vigils are being held across the state. In San Francisco, advocates for justice will rally at the Harvey Milk Plaza at the corner of Castro and Market Streets where they will watch the court proceedings on a jumbotron.

People who have denounced the abhorrent law include: both houses of the state Legislature, the state's attorney general, Jerry Brown, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi.

Yet more evidence that some of us are living in the wrong effin' states.

San Francisco will host an Eve of Justice event on the Harvey Milk Plaza . . Harvey Milk, whose legacy of equal rights was chronicled by the Oscar-winning performance of Sean Penn in the biopic, "Milk" this past year, used the same spot for many public rallies during the late 1970s. . . Following the vigil, people are expected to march from the Harvey Milk Plaza to the Civic Center, just as Milk himself led many such marches of civil unrest over intolerance, police brutality and governmental prejudice.
