John McCain Says He Is a 'Proud Liberal' (McCain-is-a-Hippie Video)

Freudian slip? Republican wannabee president John McCain says he is a "PROUD ...LIBERAL."

Wow.

If only we could get Democrats to say that!

African-American Super-delegates Stick With Hillary Despite Threats from Obama Fans

So it's not just on the internet and in the caucuses where you will find Hillary supporters being harassed, intimidated and threatened. African-American super-delegates are also targeted by the subscribers to the new Politics of Hope and Unity wing of goddess only knows what party. This is exactly the kind of behavior that is feeding the alienation of many Democrats, especially women.

The more things change. . . .

Politico: African-American superdelegates said Thursday that they’ll stand up against threats, intimidation and “Uncle Tom” smears rather than switch their support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama.

“African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.

“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.” Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-Calif.), a black lawmaker and Clinton backer, said the intense lobbying for Obama would not alter her vote.

“I’ve gotten threatening mail,” Watson said. “They say, ‘Your district went 61-29 Obama and you need to change.’ But I don’t intimidate. I can hold the ground. … I would lose my seat over my principles.” . . . Black superdelegates are getting heavy pressure from such groups as ColorOfChange.org, a grass-roots organization backing Obama.

Canadian TV: Obama is Lying About NAFTA (!) (Video)

Update#2: CTV continues to stand by the story and states that its sources are "at the highest levels of the Canadian government." (Thanks Bobb999!) Update: "A spokesman for the Canadian Embassy to the United States, Tristan Landry, flatly denied the CTV report." Yet CTV stands by its story.

Whoa! Canadian TV says Sen. Obama is lying to the American people about his NAFTA position. Lying to the American people in order to get votes in Ohio! Whoa!!

CTV: Obama's NAFTA Stand is Empty Campaign Rhetoric

CTV Canada: "Barack Obama has ratcheted up his attacks on NAFTA, but a senior member of his campaign team told a Canadian official not to take his criticisms seriously, CTV News has learned. Within the last month, a top staff member for Obama's campaign telephoned Michael Wilson, Canada's ambassador to the United States, and warned him that Obama would speak out against NAFTA, according to Canadian sources. The staff member reassured Wilson that the criticisms would only be campaign rhetoric, and should not be taken at face value."

Biased Debates -OR- When Hillary Goes First, Obama Mimics Her Answers

Yesterday on MSNBC, Tim Russert made a big deal about Hillary Clinton's charge of media bias, or her assertion that she always seems to get the first questions at the debates. Hillary-hater Tim Russert claimed that in the most recent sham of a debate, his 'gotcha' question about Russia was not directed at either candidate, but 'the bitch' aggressively seized the question.

CNN's Lou Dobbs tells a different story. Dobbs says that after viewing the clip, it was clear that when Russert posed the question, Sen. Obama looked over at Hillary, and she took the question because he basically asked her to.

If you saw the recent debate on the Misogyny Channel, you know that when Obama did weigh in on the subject of Russia, he merely repeated what Hillary said. Obama followed this pattern throughout the night, often saying, "I agree with Hillary." Obviously, the problem with Hillary going first is that we already know that she knows lots of stuff, but we don't know if Obama knows much of anything.

The New York Times looks at how often Hillary has been targeted with the first question:

Mrs. Clinton has received the first question of the night in all three of her one-on-one debates with Mr. Obama… In other debates before the Democratic field narrowed, she received the first question at 6 of the 10 most recent events. And in the one-on-one debate last Thursday, she received the first question on the overwhelming majority of topics and thus spoke first about twice as often as he did. . .

In the previous debate, on CNN, the moderators said they selected one candidate at random and offered that candidate the choice of giving the first or second opening statement. Mr. Obama won the draw, and he chose to speak after Mrs. Clinton.

Like they say, women have to be twice as good as the men just to get in the game, and still the men get the glory.

Did Obama Play the Race Card and Blame the Clintons?

In a compelling piece over at The New Republic, Princeton historian Sean Wilentz charges that Obama's campaign deliberately smeared Hillary and Bill Clinton as racist in order to capture the votes of Blacks and college liberals. When it comes to Senator Barack Obama, the only thing I'm certain of is that after all these months, we still do not know who he is. (I'm also certain that Hillary and Bill Clinton are Not racist!)

On a related note, an article in the Chicago Tribune (6/07) observes: "Despite often lofty rhetoric that he plans to bring the nation a 'new kind of politics,' Sen. Barack Obama has surrounded himself with operatives skilled in the old-school art of the political backstab."

An excerpt from Professor Wilentz's piece follows, and in the video clip below he makes his case more succinctly:

While promoting Obama as a "post-racial" figure, his campaign has purposefully polluted the contest with a new strain of what historically has been the most toxic poison in American politics. . . More than any other maneuver, this one has brought Clinton into disrepute with important portions of the Democratic Party. A review of what actually happened shows that the charges that the Clintons played the “race card” were not simply false; they were deliberately manufactured by the Obama camp and trumpeted by a credulous and/or compliant press corps in order to strip away her once formidable majority among black voters and to outrage affluent, college-educated white liberals as well as college students.

Did Obama Play the Race Card?

The Clinton campaign, in fact, has not racialized the campaign, and never had any reason to do so. Rather the Obama campaign and its supporters, well-prepared to play the “race-baiter card” before the primaries began, launched it with a vengeance when Obama ran into dire straits after his losses in New Hampshire and Nevada–and thereby created a campaign myth that has turned into an incontrovertible truth among political pundits, reporters, and various Obama supporters.

This development is the latest sad commentary on the malign power of the press, hyping its own favorites and tearing down those it dislikes, to create pseudo-scandals of the sort that hounded Al Gore during the 2000 campaign. It is also a commentary on how race can make American politics go haywire. Above all, it is a commentary on the cutthroat, fraudulent politics that lie at the foundation of Obama’s supposedly uplifting campaign. . . read more

Obama's Media Love-Fest (Howie Kurtz: Video)

Heads are still reeling from that sham of a debate held by the Hillary-hating boys at MSNBC last night. Lou Dobbs just condemned it and rightfully praised Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper.

CNN has its share of problems, or Hillary-haters, but when compared to the Misogyny Channel, CNN starts to resemble a feminist utopia. Well, I exaggerate, but you get the point.

As I type, CNN is shining a harsh critical light on Obama (how long can it last?), while MSNBC is gazing adoringly at its repulsive naval.

The video below provides a quick summary of the despicably biased media treatment of Hillary and Barack. I have to ask -- if not for Tina Fey and the brave culture/media critics at Saturday Night Live, would the media even be discussing its problem?

Manly MSNBC's Ohio Debate Mimics Saturday Night Live (Video)

The boys from the Misogyny Channel were in fine form last night during the Ohio Democratic presidential debate. Tim Russert and Brian Williams of MSNBC modeled their debate performances after last week's Saturday Night Live skit.

During Countdown, Keith Olbermann set up the debate with riveting questions such as: Which Hillary will show up at the debate? At some point in the coverage, I actually heard the term, 'mood swings.' Keith asked Hillary-hater Chuck Todd what phrases folks should look for when they played their debate drinking games. Chuck Todd suggested we should all have a drink every time we heard 'The Laugh.' Immediately, angry white males everywhere began making jokes about 'The Cackle.'

In case we didn't already know about Keith's most fervent hopes, the actual title of his show gave it away: Countdown Tuesday: The Last Debate. Yeah Keith, it's the last debate IF and only IF Hillary loses the March 4th primaries. And if that doesn't happen, we all know that you will be positively and adolescently crushed.

Despite the fact that the MSNBC misogynists and the rest of the pack journalists are continually framing the race as though Hillary has lost it, the candidates are in fact tied. But little facts like that do not stop the cable news channels from running 24/7 obituaries for Hillary's campaign. Obviously, when they repeat it often enough, and they do, undecided voters are persuaded go for the winner - or the lucky candidate that the media has declared to be the winner. To date, this has proved to be the well-documented pattern.

But that didn't stop Russert and Williams from behaving as if Hillary is the front-runner. The boys hurled a slew of 'gotcha' questions at Hillary, on NAFTA, job creation, the release of White House archives, etc. Hillary got to go first on the hard questions, and Obama got to say: 'What she said.' Can he do that when he is president? Repeatedly, Russert barked at and interrupted Hillary, while the Chosen One, Obama was free to ramble on forever.

Obama did get some tough questions -- tough questions about Hillary -- such as: "How were her comments about you unfair?"

According to Williams, they spent 16 minutes at the outset of the debate on the topic of health care. Hillary was passionate and aggressive enough for them to call her a bitch. Maybe that's why Obama kept shaking his head and smirking. It was disturbing. Repeatedly, he tried to interrupt her, but the bitch just kept talking.

Tim Russert could not keep the scathing hostility out of his voice. His body language was alarming. I thought he was going to lunge at her. Hillary was asked if she would deny that her campaign sent out the infamous photo of Obama in tribal garments. Clearly, you do not need evidence in order to challenge Senator Hillary Clinton, all you need is Drudge's word. No one asked Obama why he or his campaign accepted the word of Drudge.

When Hillary pointed out that Obama's campaign fliers misrepresent her position on NAFTA and universal health care, Obama made vague and unsubstantiated allusions to similar tactics by Hillary's campaign and added rather royally, "We haven't whined about it."

And we learned that the reason Obama hasn't held any meetings during his time as chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe is because he's been busy running for president of the United States of America.

Hillary made the point that electing a woman as president would bring about 'a sea change' in America. And we were reminded of why they hate her so. Later Chris Matthews wondered what she meant by that, no doubt envisioning the Coming Matriarchy. He dismissed the idea that a woman in charge would result in any change at all.

And finally, Hillary actually dared to point out the blatant media bias that women everywhere are griping about and in doing so, she delivered my favorite line of the night: "Maybe we should ask Barack if he's comfortable and needs another pillow." They already didn't like her, and the boys will surely crucify her for it, but they were going to do that anyway. And who knows, maybe women everywhere will find the courage to follow her example. To hell with what the boys think, sometimes you just have to be a bitch and say it.

This will be the clip that the boys play and replay.

It is time to retire the practice of having the media in charge of the debates. Tim Russert is the biggest asshole on the planet.

Hillary Ad: Tribute to Ann Richards (Video)

No doubt about it, if Ann Richards -- champion of civil rights for minorities, women and gay men and lesbians -- were alive today, she'd be campaigning passionately for Hillary. I wish.

The ad below is by Hillary's campaign and is a tribute to the great leftist firebrand and feminist trailblazer Ann Richards. Back in the days when a woman president was basically unthinkable, Ann Richards was the second woman in 160 years to give the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. That was 1988. The first woman was Barbara Jordan. Ann's daughter, Cecile is president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Drudge, MSM & Obama Camp Attack Hillary with 'Smear Photo' Tabloid Tale

So, first the now-infamous photo of Obama wearing tribal garments appeared in a supermarket tabloid called, The National Examiner (Feb 4). Next the photo was seen on the right-wing message board Free Republic where a freeper commented:

"Good Job, it needs to get to Drudge."

Then the photo traveled to right-wing blogs like Sweetness & Light. Next thing you know, the photo arrived at the Drudge Report, replete with screaming headline:

CLINTON STAFFERS CIRCULATE ‘DRESSED’ OBAMA!

Saint Drudge reminded his readers "that politicians commonly dress according to the country they're visiting and provided a handy illustration, including Sen. Clinton, President Bush and former President Bill Clinton."

Drudge says he got the photo in an email from Clinton staffers. So, where exactly is the actual email, Drudge? Did the dog eat it? But who in this lunatic asylum freaking cares about a little thing like evidence? Proof? Innocent until proven guilty? Not the media, not Obamaians, certainly not Obama.

Politico followed the Drudge lead -- without questioning the validity or truth of the accusation -- as did a freaking slew of mainstream media, left-wing and right-wing bloggers!! The rest is history, Obama campaign manger David Plouffe damned the Clinton campaign for smearing Obama with "shameful offensive fear-mongering," and:

"Obama staffers are pushing the "smear" angle hard. . . On comment boards across the blogosphere, Obama supporters are dropping words like "cynical," "disgusting," "despicable," "shameful" and, worst of all, "Rovian." The point, of course, is to suggest that the Clintonistas are slyly pressing for advantage among credulous, bigoted Americans who a) believe (despite reality) that Obama is Muslim, b) consider being Muslim a bad thing and c) would somehow see this innocuous image as "evidence" of Obama's Muslimness. Which, if true, would be pretty damn Rovian."

And this is an attack on Obama??? Are you fucking kidding me?

People have lost their fucking minds. If this sorry nation was a human being, s/he'd be forever locked away in a straight-jacket in a high-security lunatic asylum. That goes quadruple for the pure as the driven snow politics-of-hope we call the Sainted Obama Bandwagon.

There was a time when no sane person on the left would be caught believing anything found on Drudge, let alone a character assassination of one of our own. But this just keeps on happening over and over again. A story sliming the Clintons breaks, I follow the links and they dead-end into a story with not one shred of actual evidence. Meanwhile, the Obamaians shout the character assassinations from the top of their cyber lungs.

What hurts most is that Obama's style is to condemn the Clintons without one shred of evidence. And why not? Portraying the Clintons as rotten-to-the-core racists is working out pretty damn good for Obama.

Karl Rove is laughing his fucking head off.

In my humble opinion, when someone is being character-assassinated, sanity and fairness dictate that we withhold judgment until we see the proof. There is a truckload of honest and fair critiques about both of the flawed candidates. Why are we rushing to damn either one of them as hateful Immoral Evil-Doers?

God, I cannot believe what we have become.

Here are a few soundbites/links to mull over:

"Drudge is a pox on the house of Democrats. It is a rightwing crap site that spews rumors designed to tear democrats down and divide us."

"[I]t's unclear who is circulating the photo, what the photo means, why only Matt Drudge would receive it, why anything would assume that eve "stressed" Clinton staffers would do such a thing, and why, absent any proof that such a photo was circulating, Obama's campaign would formally react."

"Clinton spokesman says campaign knew nothing of Obama photo. Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson says none of the campaign officials have seen the e-mail in question. And he says the campaign would welcome any independent reporting that anyone has done on the matter."

"This is a total win-win for Drudge. Not only does he get to post a photo of Obama dressed like a foreigner (and a Muslim foreigner at that); he gets to attribute the smear to the Clinton people. This, if you'll recall, was the exact same M.O. Insight Magazine used last year to float its B.S. Obama-madrassa story--citing "sources close to [a] background check," which was "conducted by researchers connected to Senator Clinton." .. So, while I don't think Hillary should drop out before Texas and Ohio, her withdrawal would mean that if the GOP wanted to smear Obama, they'd have to do it without hiding behind her."

She's a Witch! (Hillary-Haters Video)

Is anyone besides me watching the CNN and MSNBC Obama worshipers? For days the Hillary-hating pundits have been discussing the Clinton campaign. They wonder what on earth is wrong with it! They can't figure out why there's nothing but smooth sailing for Obama and nothing but grief and pain for Hillary!

Do these idiots ever look in the mirror? Don't they ever watch themselves singing praises to Obama 24/7 and slinging ridicule and hate at Hillary? Do they really think they don't shape public opinion? This lunatic country doesn't deserve anyone as smart and classy as Hillary Rodham Clinton.

We don't deserve Al Gore, and we don't deserve Hillary Clinton. We freaking deserve John McCain. I've begun to think that the Democratic Party doesn't deserve to have women.

Erica Jong: Let me tell you about the Hillary-Haters who fill my inbox, they can't spell. They also believe in witchcraft. They believe HRC boils eye of newt with unborn baby's hair and little Jewish children not yet circumcised. They think she had a child with Vince Foster (even though Chelsea looks much like Bill and even his mother), then murdered him. They think she will leave Iraq, not leave Iraq, give us universal health care, not give us universal health care, sanction the killing of fetuses, not sanction the killing of fetuses, defend Israel, not defend Israel, end the Death Tax, not end the Death tax.

She's a Witch!

Remember Geraldine Ferraro -- tarred with the brush of her Italian-American husband, whom they claimed was a mafioso? Remember Bella Abzug, attacked for her hats (which covered too large a brain)? Remember Eleanor Roosevelt, attacked for her teeth? Remember Victoria Woodhull (the first woman to run for president) "hanged" as a whore? Remember Emma Goldman rode out of town on a rail -- for being Jewish, liking to dance and supporting the rights of the working classes?

I give up. If I have to watch another great American woman thrown in the dustbin of history to please the patriarchy, I'll move to Canada -- where they live four years longer than we because they have universal health care. -- Patriarchy:1000, Hillary:0

WaPo: Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) said Monday that the media's pro-Obama (or anti-Clinton) bias explains in part why Barack Obama is portrayed as running away with the Democratic presidential nomination (instead of being locked in a close fight with Hillary Rodham Clinton). Rendell insisted that the "media has relished this fall with glee that I have never seen in any other candidate in the thirty years I have been in the business." But there does seem to be an emerging sense that the media's perceived laudatory coverage of Obama has seeped into the general consciousness of the country; Saturday Night Live poked fun at it over the weekend, so maybe there is something to the Clinton campaign's argument.

Hillary Mocks 'the Inexperienced Candidate' (Video)

In Rhode Island yesterday, Hillary poked fun at Obama's campaign theme -- which holds that He Is The One, the One and only unity candidate who can heal the nation and end the cultural divisions. Obama will be the liberal Ronald Reagan, if only you will have faith and vote for the inexperienced candidate.

“I can stand up here and say...let’s get unified, the sky will open, the light will come down...But I have no illusions,” Clinton said.

Faith OR Experience?

Kevin Drum, who admits he 'rolled the dice' when he voted for Obama, weighs in on the inexperienced candidate:

I really think that Obama partisans are missing the point here. Like it or not, most voters have a sort of vague operational view of experience that means something like "involvement in big league politics." And on that score, Hillary gets 15 years: 8 years as an activist first lady and 7 years as U.S. senator. Obama, conversely, gets a total of 3 years as U.S. senator. It may seem unfair that his eight years in the Illinois legislature don't count, but for most people they just don't. Being a backbench state legislator just isn't big league politics.

Seen through this lens, the problem with Obama isn't that he's less experienced than Hillary, but that he's inexperienced, full stop. And again, like it or not, John McCain will certainly use that as an argument in the general election campaign in a way he couldn't against Hillary. . If McCain tried to paint Hillary as inexperienced, it would be a waste of breath. Nobody would buy it. . . The American public hasn't elected someone with as little big-time experience as Obama in the past century.

SNL: Bitch is the New Black! Go Hillary!

Wow. Saturday Night Live (SNL) just slammed the Obama-worshiping media for all its gushing adoring adolescent ways. If not for the writers' strike, perhaps the boy-led media would not have wandered so very far into the ludicrously embarrassing and dangerous land of 24/7 Obama adulation. (See the video!)

Then Tina Fey did a little Weekend Update piece on women's news. Wow. After the usual stupid stories about 'hot babes' and all the things wrong with their bodies, or the stories we've come to accept as 'news' from our Testy Boy Media, the subject of Hillary Rodham Clinton came up. Wow. Tina Fey endorsed Hillary and said something that a whole lot of women have been thinking: 'Bitch is the new Black! And it's not too late, C'mon Ohio and Texas!'

Tina Fey Rocks! Bitch is the New Black T-Shirts Here!

A partial rough transcript via MyDD: Tina Fey: 'I want to say something about those calling Hillary a bitch. She is a bitch. So am I. So is she (pointing at Weekend Update news host Amy Poehler). Deal with it! 'Bitches get shit done. (Amy says yeah and starts nodding her head in rhythmn and saying more yeahs, uh huhs and a you go girl.) Like back in grammar school, they could have had priests teaching you but no, they had tough old nuns who sleep on cots and can hit ya and you HATE those bitches. But at the end of the school year, you sure knew the capital of Vermont!'

'So It's Not Too Late Texas and Ohio! Get on Board! Bitch is the new Black!'

And there you have it, what we have learned about America thanks to the historic bid for the presidency in 2008 by a Black man and a woman: Bitch is the new Black. And it's going to take a lot more than sending a Black man to the White House to redeem this sorry nation.

Hillary Slams Obama's Rovian Tactics: 'Shame on You, Barack Obama, Meet Me in Ohio!' (Video)

Wow. Obama talks about being fired-up, but Hillary walks the walk! Who said women aren't allowed to get angry in public? Once again, feminist trailblazer Hillary Rodham Clinton breaks the rules! Go Hillary!!

Hillary slams Barack Obama -- the dude running for God or American Idol -- for his deceitful mailings which misrepresent her position on NAFTA and for his relentless attacks on universal health care via his shamefully rovian Harry & Louise campaign propaganda. Go Hillary!!

At long last, we are going to hear a debate about the stark difference between Obama's pretty words and Obama's actual down and dirty GOP style campaign tactics. It's the hypocrisy, stupid!

Shame on you, Barack Obama – it is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That’s what I expect from you. Meet me in Ohio. Let’s have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign.

Time and time again, you hear one thing in speeches and then you see a campaign that has the worst kind of tactics, reminiscent of the same sort of Republican attacks on Democrats. I am here to say that it is not only wrong, but it is undermining core Democratic principles!

Since when do Democrats attack one another on universal health care? Enough with the speeches and the big rallies and then using tactics that are right out of Karl Rove’s playbook. This is wrong! And every Democrat should be outraged.

So shame on you, Barack Obama – it is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That’s what I expect from you. Meet me in Ohio! Let’s have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign!

Obama showed up at a press conference to respond to Hillary's charges. Obama strolled out, Obama laughed, Obama was dismissive, Obama was clearly so unworried that you have to wonder why he bothered. Press conference? Fan club of embedded adoring media idiots who also famously embraced George W. Bush and his prime time shock and awe thriller of a war. Critical thinking? Scrutiny? Objectivity? Journalism's code of ethics? Don't ever expect it from the mindlessly lazy U.S. media.

In Edinburg, Texas., Mr. Obama briefly stuck his head through a blue curtain at the far end of the press room. “Crank it up, guys,” he yelled to reporters bent over their laptops. “Words matter. Don’t listen to Hillary.” To which he added: “That’s a joke.”

Running for President While Female

Quote of the Day

"People don't want to speak out against Obama because of the fear of being seen as racist. It's easier to say you want to keep a woman barefoot and pregnant....You can call a woman anything."
--Dan Leihgeber, Ohio steelworker

"Mr. Leihgeber, the steelworker, says he supports Sen. Clinton for her experience and positions. He carries a book bag to work every day with his lunch and a newspaper inside and a Clinton button pinned to the outside. Some days, he says, he turns the bag around so the Clinton button doesn't show; he says he doesn't like dealing with his co-workers' derogatory comments. Mr. Leihgeber says he wouldn't be heckled so much for an Obama pin." via The Wall Street Journal: White Men Hold Key for Democrats

Texas Debate Ends: Obama Camp Attacks -OR- Change You Can Xerox

The debate was barely over before the Obama camp lashed out with yet another attack. After all the warm and fuzzy talk about unity and friendship between Hillary and Barack, you'd think they could give us one little night before going into attack mode.

I mean it's not like Obama is all that far behind.

Obama says talk of plagiarism is the 'silly season in politics.' Obama says 'tit for tat' politics is not what the American people want to hear. Yet as soon as the debate is over, Obama's camp sends out emails charging that Hillary Clinton stole whole words from John Edwards!

Obama is the candidate for political change, the holier-than-thou candidate who is above all the divisive politics of yesteryear. That's what they say. But it's the hypocrisy, stupid.

Here's the shocking passages cited by Obama's camp:

Hillary: "You know, whatever happens, we're going to be fine. You know, we have strong support from our families and our friends. I just hope that we'll be able to say the same thing about the American people. And that's what this election should be about."

Edwards: "What's not at stake are any of us. All of us are going to be just fine no matter what happens in this election. But what's at stake is whether America is going to be fine."

Hillary stole the words: 'fine,' 'going,' 'happens,' 'America,' and 'election'? Hillary stole 'going to be fine'? Are you freaking kidding me? And this is supposed to compare with lifting entire lines? Apparently, they have kids from middle school working overtime at Obama's camp.

And don't talk to me about the armed robbery of ideas. Ideas travel and evolve. Sometimes they even occur simultaneously to people on opposite sides of the planet. No one owns ideas. And you'd be hard pressed to go back in time to find the very first person who ever expressed this particular idea. But this latest attack from the candidate who maintains that he is above all that is damn funny, as well as juvenile, because Elizabeth Edwards has accused Obama, not Hillary, of stealing from John Edwards. And I don't think she meant 5 whole words.

I watched MSNBC for about 5 minutes. That's all I could stand. With his mouth set in permanent pompous disapproval mode, Keith read verbatim from the attack email sent out by the Obama camp. I turned back to CNN to listen to the CNN Villagers trash Hillary because it doesn't hurt as much as listening to Keith Olbermann, a man I used to respect, trust, and admire. And then I turned over to Fox News, because if I'm going to tune in to hate-tv, I'd rather hear it from the other side.

Oh, and all the Obamapundits said Hillary's line, Change you can Xerox, was a big flop. How did we ever know what we thought before we had cable news? I'm putting it on a bumpersticker.

“If your candidacy is going to be about words, they should be your own words. Lifting whole passages is not change you can believe in, it's change you can Xerox."

Bill Clinton Defends Abortion, Slams Pro-Life Hecklers (Video)

Our Bodies Our Blog:
At a campaign event in Steubenville, OH on Sunday, Bill Clinton was campaigning for Senator Clinton and was heckled by anti-choice students from the religious Franciscan University of Steubenville. Clinton responded thusly:

“We disagree with you. You want to criminalize women and their doctors and we disagree. I reduced abortion. Tell the truth! Tell the truth! If you were really pro-life, if you were really pro-life, you would want to put every doctor and every mother, as an accessory to murder, in prison, and you won’t say you wanna do that, because you know that you wouldn’t have a lick of political support. Now, the issue is, you can’t name me anybody presently in politics that did more to introduce policies that reduce the number of real abortions, instead of the hot air putting out to tear people up and make votes by dividing America. Hillary Closes at the Presidential Debate in Texas (Video)

Hillary has the best and the most moving moment of the night: Describe the moment in your life when you were the most tested.

Hillary v. Obama Debate in Texas

The Democratic presidential debate in Texas is on.

This is the first debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama since their love-fest in Hollywood on Jan. 31.

Campbell Brown is moderating the debate! An actual woman. Wow. What a long overdue but historic move on the part of CNN. The worse MSNBC gets, the more CNN strives to prove that it is far superior to the Misogyny Channel.

As the underdog, some pundits say Senator Clinton needs to be aggressive, but that's always a tricky proposition for a woman. As we've seen in the past, when Obama attacks, the pundits pile on the praise. When Hillary attacks, the pundits cry foul, no fair, she's playing dirty.

Hillary's Accomplishments

Alegre has a great diary up over at Daily Obama about some of Hillary's long list of accomplishments. Many of them (they fill a 312 page book!) have to do with advocating on behalf of children.

Hillary's work on behalf of children is one of the reasons I support her.

It would be something radically new under the sun to have an actual president who has spent time working with and for children. If we had a president with that kind of experience, maybe we would no longer have the highest child poverty rate in the industrialized world.

Here's a small list from Heart of a Champion of the kind of work that Hillary Rodham Clinton has devoted her life to:

As a law student Hillary worked to identify children who were victims of abuse and neglect and volunteered at the New Haven Legal Services offices. Her first job out of law school was going door-to-door with the Children's Defense Fund to find out why children weren’t enrolled in public schools. Her findings prompted Congress to pass laws ensuring that kids with disabilities were accommodated and taught in our public schools (setting up programs in which my son and countless others have benefited enormously).

When Reagan was President, Hillary was Chairman of the Legal Services corporation - legal services for the poor. In a head-to-head battle with the President, she successfully fought Reagan off when he tried to shift $300 million legal services to defense spending.

In Arkansas Hillary ran the University of Arkansas's legal aid and prison projects; reformed Arkansas' education system; instituted a model parent education program; created new scholarships for single parents; and expanded medical facilities in Arkansas' poorest areas.

As First Lady Hillary helped create the State Children's Health Insurance Program; spearheaded efforts to double child care spending, dramatically expand Head Start, and create Early Head Start; and expanded the federal after school program to a $1 billion formula grant program that reaches every state.

John McCain Denies Affair With Lobbyist

Whoa, who said 71 year olds can't have fun? The New York Times is reporting that Senator John McCain behaved "inappropriately" with a female lobbyist, or so say his top advisers from the 2000 presidential campaign. I think we all know that Republicans are as pure as the driven snow, so how can this possibly be true? But what on earth did McCain do to piss-off his advisers?

McCain denies everything and promises to wage war on the liberal NY Times! (via) The story also broke in the more conservative Washington Post, and a variation was in-progress at The New Republic.

Mr. Straight-Talk Express is also alleged to have bestowed some "official favors" on his dear friend the lobbyist. Coincidentally, Vicki Iseman just happens to be blonde, just like McCain's current wife and just like his former wife too. There are not a lot of details in the story, but I get the feeling we will soon know plenty more. Mike Huckabee, the other presidential candidate from the Family Values Party, is drinking champaign tonight and having visions of being a come-back kid. Democrats may get a landslide no matter who we pick!

New York Times:

Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity. . . In interviews, the two former associates said they joined in a series of confrontations with Mr. McCain, warning him that he was risking his campaign and career. Both said Mr. McCain acknowledged behaving inappropriately and pledged to keep his distance from Ms. Iseman.

About Obama: Latte Drinkers & Selling Out Maytag Workers (Video)

A must-see video here. Machinists Union President Tom Buffenbarger has a history with Barack Obama. The union president decimates Obama for all-round hypocrisy and for betraying Maytag workers, among other charges. Buffenbarger's charge against Sen. Obama is a lot more serious than this little sound-bite the media chose to go with: "I've got news for all the latte-drinking, Prius-driving, Birkenstock-wearing, trust fund babies crowding in to hear him speak! This guy won't last a round against the Republican attack machine. He's a poet, not a fighter."

"This is no time for a poet. . . Hillary Clinton is a fighter. When the going gets tough, Hillary stands her ground. She’s the president for the 21st century! Hillary, we’ve got your back!"

No Quarters: "Machinists Union President Tom Buffenbarger, introducing Clinton, talks about Maytag. He talks about the betrayal by Barack Obama, who only gave those Maytag workers a speech. WORDS. Baloney. But then Obama collected huge sums from the Crown family of Chicago, owners of Maytag who shipped those workers’ jobs out of the country. The Crown patriarch says that when he talked to Barack Obama, the subject of those jobs NEVER came up."

Obama's Accomplishments? Chris Matthews Humiliates Obamafan (Video)

MSNBC's Chris Matthews embarrassed State Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Texas) last night when he asked the Texas Obamafan to name ONE legislative accomplishment of Senator Obama. Watson couldn't do it. As the Rep. sat there in deep humiliation, or stunned silence, you could hear laughter erupt from the camera men in the background.

Hillary supporter, Rep. Stephanie Tubbs (D-Ohio) rocks! Obama supporter, State Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Texas) not so much.
