Hillary Gets Madame Secretary of State Nod Today
All Hillary lovers will not be pleased by Hillary Rodham Clinton's imminent promotion to Secretary of State, but count me among those who are. It will be good for the country, and goddess knows this country needs all the freaking help it can get!
It will also be good for the women of the world. In the words of Taylor Marsh:
What HRC can bring to the world stage is monumental and something only she can do, especially given her work across many years on women's rights alone.
And from Damozel at Buck Naked Politics: Hurray! Hillary will be Secretary of State! And I'm not in the mood to listen to naysayers, so LALALALLALALALALA I can't heeeeear you.
Eat your heart out, Bill "Judas" Richardson. And what would Village Idiot Chris Matthews have to whine about if Hillary stayed in the senate? Josh Marshall and The Nation's David Corn can whine right along with the MSNBC boyz. Maybe Corn and Marshall would like to join the General Electric/NBC team since they have so much in common with them.
Politico has the story:
It’s finally official: President-elect Obama will appear with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in Chicago on Monday as he names her secretary of state, a remarkable reunion of once-bitter rivals. The news conference at a Chicago hotel is scheduled to begin at 10:40 a.m. Eastern.
