Nashville Debate: "That One" (Video)

"That one" -- This was a startling and outstandingly rude moment in an otherwise lame or tightly scripted debate. Senator John McCain referred to Senator Barack Obama as "that one." It was not a flattering moment for John McCain, condescending, objectifying, and not exactly presidential. If Hillary Clinton was McCain's opponent and he referenced her as "that one," the election would be over. But given some of the polls we're seeing, it may well be.


“There was an energy bill on the floor of the Senate loaded down with goodies, billions for the oil companies. And it was sponsored by Bush and Cheney. You know who voted for it — you might never know?”

That one,” he added acerbically, and pointed toward Mr. Obama as if accusing him of a crime. Mr. McCain did not, tellingly, look at him.
