Progressives Nix Fox News Debate

The presidential debate hosted by Fox News in Nevada is not going to happen.

More than 265,000 people signed a petition via Move.on which was sent to the Nevada State Democratic Party. Some 280,000 people have viewed "Fox Attacks: Obama" - pointing to the petition at www.FoxAttacks.com.

The Nevada State Democratic Party has pulled out of the debate. Earlier this week, Sen. John Edwards stood up like a genuine leader when he said would not participate in the Fox News hosted debate.

Fox was pissed.

Nevertheless, Bill Richardson followed Edwards' example and dropped out of the Fox News debate.

All those folks who need a reminder of why Fox News is not an appropriate vehicle for hosting presidential debates were aided last night when Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes jokingly compared Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden.

This is not just a victory for progressives, it's also victory for grown-ups!

Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn.org Civic Action, said he hoped the decision would "set a precedent within the party that Fox should be treated as a right-wing mis-information network, not legitimized as a neutral source of news."
