Nashville: James Dobson Anti-Gay Rally Moved to New Location

Senator David Fowler's heterosexist organization has moved the location of their get-out-the-anti-gay-vote rally to Two Rivers Baptist Church. This is the same church that hosted the rabid Justice Sunday II event.

Admission to the Hate Rally is free.

Previously, the event was scheduled to be held in downtown Nashville at the Municipal Auditorium, and tickets were sold via Ticketmaster -- where the event is now marked cancelled.

For some reason, Fowler has not updated the Stand for the Family Rally flyer (pdf) at his heterosexist site. Possibly he hopes the planned protest will not find his new less accessible location.

A letter sent by the heterosexists to supporters advises:

The first 3,000 attendees will receive a bag of resources including two free books. Please do join us on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville. No ticket is needed for admission to the rally. Doors will open at 6:00pm and seating will be first come, first served.

James Dobson of Focus on the Family will speak at the event, along with other nationally infamous religious zealots. The "Stand for the Family" rally will be held on October 16th, just weeks before Tennesseans go to the polls to vote on Amendment 1, or the question of writing discrimination into the state constitution.

The religious zealots have designated the day before the rally as heterosexist Marriage Day. On that day, they plan to have preachers instructing congregations to go forth and vote yes on the Republican Party's dream of writing discrimination into the Tennessee State Constitution.

Focus on the Family has issued a letter to Tennessee pastors urging them to "prepare your congregation to get out and vote to protect marriage and the family." I'll put a copy of the letter in a separate post.

Senator Fowler's organization provides helpful Republican bulletin inserts to aid the churches that do sign on to the rightwing politics of hate, sponsored by State Senator David Fowler, James Dobson and other assorted bigots.

Fowler's heterosexist org. finally got their yard signs. You can see them here.

If you don't have your Vote No On 1 yard signs yet, you can get them at Vote NO On 1.
