Marching for Peace


This weekend will mark the third anniversary of Bush's War. Pasted below are the details (via email alerts) about the Peace Marches that will be held in Nashville and Chattanooga. Thanks Sadie B. for details on the Chattanooga march.

Nashville Peace March:

Nashville Music City March for Peace III March 18th 12:00pm – 2:30pm Bradley Park/Musica (Music Row Roundabout)

On March 18, 2006, it will be 3 years since the US Administration has sponsored the US War and Occupation on Iraq. Join the Nashville Peace Coalition as the Middle Tennessee community continues to demonstrate for peace and an end of this War.

Join Tennesseans in mourning this sad anniversary - the war has cost the lives of over 2300 Americans, 32,000 Iraqis, and $243 billion dollars to date – and join us in expressing our desire for peace in Iraq and justice at home. Afterwards, join the Peace Coalition at the Nashville Peace and Justice Center for a potluck and movie at 3pm.

Chattanooga Peace March:

Join members and friends of the Cumberland Center for Justice and Peace in Chattanooga Saturday, March 18, for a march and rally to mark the third anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war.

The march will begin at Coolidge Park, 3:00 P.M. (EST) and end with a brief rally at Miller Park starting at 4:00 P.M. EST. Featured speaker will be Ann Teague Allen of Duff, Tennessee, who lost her son in the Iraq war. Additional brief remarks will be provided by Buzz Sienknecht of Sewanee, Dr. Fritz Efaw, Professor of Economics at UTC, Mr. G. G. Moore, Terry Stulce, Rev. Jeff Brierre, all of Chattanooga, and Phil Loney, CCJP Chair, of Sewanee.
