Cultures to Die For - Or - Brooks on The Culture of Nations

In today's column (link below) - The Culture of Nations - once again, the princely one with the softest of hands, David Brooks, is doing what he does best -- looking down from his paler-than-thou throne at all the messy brown people.

People don't strap on bombs and blow themselves up because sometimes it's quite rationale to do most anything to thwart the U.S. imperialist power from hell.

People blow themselves up cause it's a cultural thing. Some of us come from good stock, or have the same "cultural and moral norms" as David and some of us just don't.

If you’re Swedish and you have a chance to pull up in front of a fire hydrant, you still don’t do it. You’re Swedish. That’s who you are. [emphasis added]

But, woe, if you're "from Egypt, Chad, Sudan, Mozambique, Pakistan, Ethiopia and Syria." You not only park in front of fire hydrants, you blow the damn things up. Moral outrage, despair, bombs falling on your families' heads have nothing to do with it. It's your sick culture.

When "young Muslim men in Britain .. renounce freedom and prosperity for midair martyrdom" there's nothing to be done about their "toxic desires." All we can ever do is "fight the symptoms of a disease we can neither cure nor understand."

Cause the freedom to pursue "prosperity" for self-interested individuals is the greatest good.

If ever there was an argument for a national policy of two years of mandated abject miserable hellish poverty for every single inhabitant of the USA, this man is it. Some of us would survive, and some of the more princely ones amongst us would not.
