Delay Gets Liberal "Activist" Judge (heh)

Too bad for Tom Delay. When the hammer showed up in court for his money laundering and conspiracy charges, he faced one of those evil liberal judges the rightwinger so loves to hate.

Judge Bob Perkins has donated to Moveon.org.

Sweet poetic justice!

Delay's attorney, Dick DeGuerin asked for a new judge. DeGuerin told Judge Bob Perkins that Moveon.org sells t-shirts featuring the mug shot of Delay.

Delay's attorney lied.

Moveon's director Tom Mattzie was suprised to hear the news. Mattzie told ThinkProgress that MoveOn has "'never sold any t-shirts with Tom DeLay’s mug shot' on their website or otherwise."

Judge Perkins, who must have felt like he was on trial, responded:

"Let me just say I haven't ever seen that T-shirt, number one. Number two, I haven't bought it. Number three, the last time I contributed to MoveOn that I know of was prior to the November election last year when they were primarily helping Senator Kerry."

Delay's arraignment was delayed. There will be a hearing on his request for a Republican judge.

The crooked Congressman may have some trouble finding a judge who feels no bias towards a thug who is certainly biased against judges:

"The judges need to be intimidated. They need to uphold the Constitution. (If they don't behave) we're going to go after them in a big way." - Tom Delay, From the Washington Post [9/14/97]

Hat tip to Jesselee, at The Stakeholder, who has more to say about Delay's search for a Republican judge.
