State Orders Love In Action to Shut it Down!

It's official. The Memphis-based homophobic hate factory that calls itself Love In Action has been ordered to cease its evil ways and shut down by Friday, September 23.

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities charges that LIA provides care for mentally ill patients sans a license. The 'ex-gay' organization has the option of applying for a state license after it shuts down.

If the Memphis based LIA does not shut down as ordered, it will face criminal penalties that include fines of up to $500 and six months in jail for each day it operates after September 23.

I take back every bad thing I've ever said about my red state (except all criticisms aimed at the anti-healthcare Governor and the anti-minority-rights legislature and the misguided voters, etcetera).

On a related note, former clients of Love In Action are compiling data on "participants who attended the Memphis-based program from 1995 to present." If you can help, see Peter Toscano's blog (Hat tip to TV on the Fritz).

For some background on the hate factory, including a description by Toscano of some of LIA's hellish practices see this post, and/or search this blog in the box in the sidebar.
