When disaster strikes, the Family Dollar Store can always make things worse. Kolonie Sims got permission to take off work and go to Mississippi to rescue her brother and sister, David, age 14, and Kendra, age 17.
After she returned with rescued siblings in tow, the humanitarians at the Family Dollar store, in Spring Hill, Tennessee, told her she was fired.
Family Dollar spokesperson Kiley Rawlins was awarded the not-exactly-coveted Worst Person in the World award by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann last night after Rawlins excused the company's behavior with this Rovian mumbo jumbo:
"We really have made every effort to support our associates and give them the time off when they need the time off and support them with continued benefits and supplies wherever we could," spokeswoman Kiley Rawlins said. "Our associates are very important to us, and we know that this is a very traumatic time."
Kiley Rawlins should consider applying for a position in the White House.
I'm still trying to figure out how Kolonie Sims could afford to buy the gas for the trip to Mississippi on her pitiful salary of $7.00 an hour.
