Bush is the National Disaster


The media in Ireland says what the world has been thinking for a long time.

On a related note, today's Washington Post features a front-page head-line story on a sobering subject that the blogosphere has been discussing for days. It kind of makes you wonder how many more governmental departments are staffed with those whose only qualification for the job is membership in the famed good old boy network. From the WaPo:

Patronage appointments at the crisis-response agency are questioned as "brain drain" is blamed for bungled response to Hurricane Katrina.

Five of eight top Federal Emergency Management Agency officials came to their posts with virtually no experience in handling disasters and now lead an agency whose ranks of seasoned crisis managers have thinned dramatically since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
