Radical Right Wing Drooling Over "Justice" Roberts - Updated

Update & bump: The Nat'l Women's Law Center blog, NominationWatch has more clips of the radical right congratulating themselves on the prospects of yet anotber Supreme who is anti Roe. The post is titled: "The public has a right to know why the far right endorses Roberts so strongly." I also addressed that question - here.

NominationWatch notes that, "Shortly after the nomination was announced, Robert Novak went on CNN and said that he was 'sure' Roberts wants to overturn Roe v. Wade."

Radical Right Gleeful Over Judge Roberts:

"Roberts has shown strong conservative credentials with indications that he will not uphold Roe v. Wade. Our nation has suffered enough under decades of liberal activist judges legislating from the bench." ---- Cheryl Sullenger, Operation Rescue (a radical, far-right anti-choice group)

“I am very pleased that President Bush has chosen to nominate such a highly qualified individual to serve on our nation’s highest court. Judge John Roberts is a brilliant legal mind and a man of deep character ..." ---Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum

"The president is a man of his word; he promised to nominate someone along the lines of a Scalia or a Thomas, and that is exactly what he has done." --- Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council

But [John Roberts's] nomination has invoked strong opposition from groups like People For the American Way, Planned Parenthood, and others - because they know that the next Supreme Court Justice will play a pivotal role in major decisions regarding religious freedom ... abortion ... and more." ---- Jay Sekulow, chief counsel, American Center for Law and Justice (Pat Robertson's ultraconservative right-wing group)
