NOW Condemns Gawker for Misogyny & Public Sexual Harassment of Christine O'Donnell
Christine O'Donnell's campaign has responded to the vile and sexist hit piece -- I Had a One-Night Stand With Christine O'Donnell -- with photos -- authored by an anonymous low-life coward and shamefully published by Gawker. The creep has since been outed, as Dustin Dominiak, by Smoking Gun.
The O'Donnell campaign responds:
This story is just another example of the sexism and slander that female candidates are forced to deal with. From Secretary Clinton, to Governor Palin, to soon-to-be Governor Haley, Christine's political opponents have been willing to engage in appalling and baseless attacks — all with the aim of distracting the press from covering the real issues in this race. Even the National Organization for Women gets it . .
In a statement condemning Gawker, the National Organization for Women (NOW) frames the slut shaming piece as "public sexual harassment":
Sexist, misogynist attacks against women have no place in the electoral process, regardless of a particular candidate's political ideology.
Today the tabloid website Gawker published an anonymous piece titled "I Had A One-Night Stand With Christine O'Donnell" that takes the routine sexual degradation of women candidates to a disgusting new low. NOW repudiates Gawker's decision to run this piece. It operates as public sexual harassment. And like all sexual harassment, it targets not only O'Donnell, but all women contemplating stepping into the public sphere.

Arkansas School Board Member Clint McCance Wants Gays Dead
While some campaign to persuade gay kids not to kill themselves because hateful bigots are not everywhere, this sicko board member of an Arkansas school district uses Facebook to tell gay kids to kill themselves! Pity anyone who lives in Clint McCance's Arkansas school district.
The Advocate has the gory details:
Responding to a call to wear purple last Wednesday to support LGBT youth, McCance wrote the following message on his Facebook page: "Seriously they want me to wear purple because five queers killed themselves. The only way im wearin it for them is if they all commit suicide.
Fire Clint McCance Facebook Page
UPDATE: The bigot's school district is under siege - "The Midland School District has removed the names of School Board members from its website. Its e-mail account is not accepting outside e-mail. It has disabled the public comments page."

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on Why Women Shun Politics
Quote of the Day
“You have to remember that most women are the protectors of their family. They look out for not only children but also the elderly. A lot of women, we see that as our first job. Many women don’t want to expose their family or their children to something so rough and so aggressive and unfair and not honest.”
Senator Gillibrand was addressing the question of why there are so few women in politics. The answer seems to make sense, but you have to wonder why men aren't equally concerned with the important work of protecting their families.
Bonus Quote of the Day
“Here is something you don’t see every day: a United States senator, looking like a million bucks in a little black dress and high heels, jitterbugging in a Manhattan department store."

Sexism Watch: Sarah Palin on the Cover of Mother Jones
Sexualizing every last woman who dares to enter the male domain of church and state is one way to keep us women demeaned, trivialized and in our servile place.
With women a pathetic 17% of Congress, clearly it's working.

Christine O'Donnell: There Is Definitely A Sexist Double Standard (Video)
Christine O'Donnell says women in politics, especially conservative women, face a sexist double standard.
That can't be. Can it? Sexism is real?
Anderson Cooper and his panel discussed the matter last night and concluded that Christine O'Donnell is just wrong. Never mind that our culture is so steeped in misogyny that most people participate in it but don't see it, Anderson should try spending time as a woman being critiqued and man-handled by good old boys from either party. He wouldn't last an effing hour. I hope she sues.
There’s certainly a double standard and I don’t often quote Gloria Steinem but she said you can look at a double standard if they wouldn’t attack the male opponent that way and there’s no doubt that they wouldn’t say the things they’re saying about me, they wouldn’t do the things that they’re doing if I weren’t a woman. I’m not whining but there certainly is a double standard especially when it comes to conservative woman.”

Democratic Frank Caprio: 'Obama can take his endorsement and really shove it'
Obama's failure to endorse Rhode Island Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio appears to be his way of rewarding Caprio's GOP-turned-Independent opponent for his 2008 endorsement. When President Obama arrives in Rhode Island, he will be endorsing the state's other Democratic candidates. Caprio found out about the snub from a reporter. No wonder the Democratic candidate is pissed:
"He can take his endorsement and really shove it", Caprio told John Depetro and the WPRO morning news. Caprio told WPRO he did not seek the President's endorsement and calls the snub Washington politics.
A spokesman for the Chafee campaign tells the Providence Journal the President's decision is a victory for Linc Chafee. Chafee crossed party lines in 2008 to endorse then candidate Obama over Chafee's former Senate colleague John McCain.

Sarah Palin on the Cover of New York Magazine
Sarah Palin's on the cover of New York Magazine. And from the cover story:
2012: How Sarah Barracuda Becomes President: Why do you think Barack Obama is being so nice to Michael Bloomberg?
The professional political class is slowly beginning to believe that Sarah Palin may very well win the next Republican presidential primary. It could push our mayor, finally, into the national campaign he’s always flirted with—and that might ultimately trigger the Palinpocalypse.

Justice Clarence Thomas' Ex-Girlfriend Speaks: "He Was Obsessed With Porn"
Inspired by the recent bizarre behavior of Virginia Thomas, a former girlfriend of Justice Clarence Thomas has finally come forward to say that the man she once knew intimately was an awful lot like the porn-obsessed sex-harassing man Anita Hill described some 20 years ago. And the story is on the front page of the Washington Post.
Who's sorry now, Virginia Thomas?
Too bad Lillian McEwen didn't have the courage to speak back when it might have saved the country from the indignity of the lousiest, lying, porn-obsessed Supreme Court Justice evah. But given how determined the boyz in the Senate were to protect their own kind, it probably wouldn't have changed a damn thing if a hundred women had testified:
[S]he said Hill's long-ago description of Thomas's behavior resonated with her. "He was obsessed with porn," she said of Thomas, who is now 63. According to McEwen, Thomas would also tell her about women he encountered at work. He was partial to women with large breasts, she said. In an instance at work, Thomas was so impressed that he asked one woman her bra size, McEwen recalled him telling her. . .
"I have no hostility toward him," McEwen said. "It is just that he has manufactured a different reality over time. That's the problem that he has."

Court Grants Obama Request to Continue Anti Gay Military Policy (DADT), for Now
So let's see if I have this straight. Republicans are fighting to end the government's discrimination against gays and lesbians (DADT), while Democrats, led by President Obama, are fighting for the government's right to carry on with the discrimination!
So here I am for the first time in my life cheering for the Republicans. Unfortunately, the bad guys, the Democrats, just won another round: "A federal appeals court on Wednesday temporarily stalled the landmark court decision allowing openly gay recruits to be accepted into the military."
"Obama could halt the enforcement of DADT today. He doesn't have to wait on Congress, he doesn't have to aggressively defend DADT—or DOMA—in court, and he could issue a stop-loss order right now." -- Dan Savage

Clarence Thomas's Delusional Wife Asks Anita Hill For An Apology
Twenty years later and Virginia Thomas, wife of the infamous sexual harasser and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, still hasn't awakened from La-La-Land. Perhaps she was having a Tea Party gathering last weekend and had too much to drink. Why else would she call Anita Hill after all these years and request an apology? Here's the weird message she left for Anita Hill:
"Good morning, Anita Hill, it's Ginni Thomas. I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. OK, have a good day."
Anita Hill said, NO:
Hill told ABC News: “Even if it wasn’t a prank, it was in no way conciliatory for her to begin with the presumption that I did something wrong in 1991. I simply testified to the truth of my experience. For her to say otherwise is not extending an olive branch, it’s accusatory.” She continued: “I don’t apologize. I have no intention of apologizing, and I stand by my testimony in 1991.”

The subject of the U.S. Constitution came up while O'Donnell was arguing for the inclusion of religious propaganda in public schools.
