Besides being a woman, Julia Gillard, Australia's first female prime minister, is also an admitted atheist. Here in the U. S. A., that kind of honesty is even rarer than women in elected office.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard is also unmarried. Unmarried? Horrors. Yet another first that we here in the U. S. are clearly not ready for. Oh well, it's nice to see some progress even if it is on the other side of the planet.
