Craven Tennessee Firefighters Let Family Home Burn Down

Don't look for any heroes in Obion County, Tennessee. There are no Christians there either, apparently. There are, however, a whole lot of monsters who call themselves Republicans. Republicans who subscribe to the sad dog-eat-dog conservative philosophy of making government small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Firefighters in Obion County, Tennessee let a house burn to the ground because the home owners didn't pay a yearly subscription fee. The brave and valiant firefighters actually stood by and watched the house burn down. No thanks to the men (sic) of Obion County, there were no casualties, other than the reputation of Obion County, Tennessee:

A local newspaper further pressed Mayor Crocker about the city’s policy, which has been in place since 1990. Crocker, a Republican who was elected in 2008 and serves with a county commission where every seat is also filled by a Republican, likened the policy to buying auto insurance. The paper said he told them that, after all, “if an auto owner allowed their vehicle insurance to lapse, they would not expect an insurance company to pay for an unprotected vehicle after it was wrecked.”
