Obama Heads to Denmark to Lobby for Chicago's Olympic Bid

I guess I'm missing some pertinent information. This just seems strange to me. Granted, Olympics 2016 would be a big boost to America's economy, but isn't it unseemly for a president to take a break from America's dire problems in order to go lobbying? Maybe I'm just old fashioned.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are heading to Copenhagen to lobby on behalf of "Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics."

Obama would be the first U.S. president to take on such a direct role in lobbying for the games. Chicago is competing with Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo. The IOC will pick the host city on Friday.
