Paul Krugman reports that he is shocked and surprised to learn that President Obama was shocked and surprised to discover that progressives are deadly serious about that public option.
The White House is out of touch with the liberal base? How is that possible? Duh. Because the Obama Team spends all its energy insulting liberals and pandering to conservatives. Because somebody in the White House is still stuck in that mythical post-partisan fairy tale.
[P]rogressives are now in revolt. Mr. Obama took their trust for granted, and in the process lost it. And now he needs to win it back.
