Obama's Empty Promise to Deliver Single Payer Should Be on Billboards (Video)

“I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care plan. . We may not get there immediately because first we’ve got to take back the White House.”
--Barack Obama

Seriously people, someone needs to plaster Obama's absurdly empty promise to deliver single payer -- once he got to the White House (!) -- on billboards across the nation. Women got the vote in 1920, and not 1950, because women like Alice Paul got serious about holding the president's feet to the fire. Paul and the National Woman's Party burned every word that President Wilson had ever written on the subject of democracy. They did it in front of the White House. The women went to jail. The women went on hunger strikes.

They embarrassed the president. They ridiculed the president. They did it with style and drama and so got front page press coverage. Obama needs to see his empty campaign lie writ large everywhere he goes.

In the video clip below, Bill Moyers provides a great take-down of the deceitful health insurance industry and their perpetual fight to keep the U.S. as the one and only industrialized nation that fails to deliver health care as a human right. There are some great clips from the past, including one of Obama making his infamous campaign lie about his support for single payer. And there's a great one of Hillary.
