Geena Davis: At this Pace, Expect Gender Parity in 500 Years (Video)
I've been crazy about Geena Davis ever since Thelma and Louise. In the clip below, Geena Davis -- founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media -- tells graduates at Bates College that if we continue at the current pace, we'll achieve gender parity in 500 years. That sounds about right. And on the subject of all that talk about change, Geena Davis says the fastest way to achieve change is to seat more women at the table!
"The research showed that in the top-grossing G-rated films from 1990-2005, there were three male characters for every one female - a statistic that did not improve over time."
