The First Puppy Moves into the White House (Photos)
Puppies and children, two of my favorite things, and what a grumpy old world it would be without them. So happy holidays! And so much for the White House plans to keep the news of the First Puppy a secret until Tuesday. Leaks of the puppy story are all over the net, which prompted the White House to go ahead and publish some photos of the First Puppy.
And the Washington Post was promised an exclusive, oh well:
The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin' senator himself, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. The girls named it Bo -- and let it be noted that you learned that here first. Malia and Sasha chose the name, because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because first lady Michelle Obama's father was nicknamed Diddley, a source said. (Get it? Bo . . . Diddley?)
