Thompson Ad to Run at Outset of Fox Debate that Fred Is Snubbing
Fred Thompson appears to think he is too kingly to appear on the debate stage with his Republican colleagues. He bought an ad instead.
The Republican non candidate bought an ad that will "air on Fox News, just as people are tuning in" to the Fox News New Hampshire debate that Thompson is snubbing.
While the real candidates struggle with the debate, Thompson will appear on his ad to announce that he is announcing later that night. That would be at 12:01 a.m. on his website, a time chosen so that Thompson could skip the New Hampshire debate.
Weird.
As reported earlier, Thompson will appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the very same night that the real candidates will be debating in New Hampshire.
Jonathan Singer over at MyDD has the latest on Thompson's less than stellar fundraising: "No wonder Thompson and his aides have tried to skirt campaign finance laws as long as possible, keeping their fundraising totals away from the eyes of the American people as long as possible -- they don't want to have to explain just why no one's giving money to the committee."
