John Edwards in Nashville at Ryman

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards will be at the Ryman Auditorium at 3:30 in downtown Nashville today! (Monday, April 16) The campaign event is free and open to the public.

But you knew it would be open to the public when I said Democratic, didn't you? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you will Not be required to take an oath of party loyalty to get in the door!

There will even be entertainment: The Del McCoury Band and singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell will be on hand.

But the real excitement is John Edwards, the man who said:

"Where I come from, what matters the most isn't how much you have, it's how much you give. Work gives pride, dignity, and hope to our lives and our communities. And so the President is wrong: America is not, and never wished to be, a Wealth Society."

"To be true to our values, our country must build a Working Society — an America where everyone who works hard finally has the rewards to show for it. In the Working Society, nobody who works full-time should have to raise children in poverty, or in fear that one health emergency or pink slip will drive them over the cliff." [via]
