The Religious Right Is Illiterate?

Omigod, what if the Hate Amendment fails because bigots can't read?

The wingnuts over at Real Marriage Is Only for Real People Like Us - Really are alarmed about the reading comprehension skills of their base.

Early voting in Tennessee began today and the leaders of Real Marriage is for Real People Like Us - Really are already on the case. They claim that poll workers have been attempting to decipher the marriage amendment for the benefit of illiterate wingnuts. They call this "voter tampering."

We have already heard reports of “voter tampering” at a few polling locations, by trying to confuse voters on this issue. Some voters have been told “if you don’t support homosexual marriage vote no” and others have been told “there already is a law on the books about marriage and if you vote yes you are voting to change that law."

By making statements like this people are mislead to believe they should vote no.

Both of these comments are illegal by poll workers, Poll workers CANNOT say anything!

State Elections Coordinator, Brook Thompson, has advised us that he would be contacting precinct workers statewide to advise them of this.

Please make it clear to everyone you know that A VOTE YES is to PROTECT MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN.

A Vote No is in support of Homosexual Marriage.

It can’t be any clearer than that. If you know someone who has voted today and had a statement like these made, please have them contact us today at info@factn.org.

If this is true, Tennessee poll workers may also be illiterate. But that's another story.

Gee, what's the radical right going to do if their base can't read well enough to vote yes for bigotry?

And the moral of this story is that if the allegedly religious crew worked on real issues -- you know, the kind of issues that their hero Jesus devoted his life to, issues like poverty and education -- the world would be a better place and the ignorance that always leads to bigotry might at long last go to its well-deserved grave.

In the meantime, you heard what she said, or screamed: Poll workers CANNOT say anything! So, if you hear a poll worker explain that if you Vote NO on Amendment One, you are voting against the passage of the marriage amendment - it may well be your civic duty to report "voter tampering."

Warning: Since we now know that gays are in highly placed positions of power all over the apparently queer nation, be advised that the person you report the crime to may well be [gasp] gay.

Michael over at No Silence Here has more on the topic of confusion and hysteria in the ranks of the religious right.

Vote NO on Amendment One!
