Anti-Gay Lawmakers Wage Fantasy Campaign

The radical right of Tennessee is gearing up its campaign to forever deprive gays and lesbians of the constitutional right of marriage. The newly founded Family Action Council of Tennessee now has a campaign website called, Real Marriage.

The rightwingers hope to use the site to 'educate' the public on the dangers of same-sex marriage. The 'educational' website is a component of their effort to persuade the public to vote for the passage of the unconstitutional amendment that would forever ban same-sex marriage in Tennessee.

State lawmakers employed by, or actively supportive of, the radical organization include:

Sen. David Fowler, Executive Director, Family Action Council of Tennessee
Rep. Bill Dunn
Rep. Paul Stanley
Sen. Steve Southerland

If you are not yet convinced that gays must be deprived of god-knows-how-many-rights because they are indeed plotting to take over Tennessee and the world, the Real organization, and the lawmakers who support it, aim to 'educate' you. Toward that mission, they offer 'proof' in the form of an imaginative essay written by one Michael Swift, in 1987.

The Real Christian lawmakers warn that their evidential essay is "not for consumption by children" and may be "extremely offensive." Nevertheless, their determination to demonize those who differ from them is such that the alleged family values organization devotes an entire web page to the re-publication of the "offensive" and shockingly fictional essay.

The essay's author qualifies his work as "an outré, madness, a tragic, cruel fantasy, an eruption of inner rage." Conveniently, the "cruel fantasy" is titled: The Gay Manifesto.

Are you scared yet?

The Gay Manifesto includes such terrifying tidbits as: "Tremble, hetero swine, when we appear before you without our masks. "

And:

"All churches who condemn us will be closed. Our only gods are handsome young men. We adhere to a cult of beauty, moral and esthetic. All that is ugly and vulgar and banal will be annihilated."

Hey, admit it, you knew your lawmakers based their legislation on some seriously flawed research. But if you were, in fact, wondering why Tennessee ranks at or near the bottom in virtually every measure of a healthy society, wonder no more.

The Real folks name their mortal enemy - Vote No On Amendment 1 - several times, but neglect to provide contact info. To find out how you can help protect the constitutional right of marriage for all of us, call: (615) 664-6886. Or, if you are in the area, Vote No On 1 has just set up campaign headquarters at 1709 Church Street, Nashville, TN.

And guess what? Vote No On 1 bases its campaign on nonfiction. Go figure.
