Immigrants Boycott & Turn Off Lights in Tennessee

In middle Tennessee, more than 4,500 immigrants are staying home. Tonight they plan to turn off their lights (from 8:00-9:00pm) in a show of support for the national protest against a bill that would transform undocumented workers into felons.

Reuters reports that MacDonald's and meat packing plants across the country are feeling the impact. Tennessee Pride and Tennessee Quality Foods are also in pain.

Bloomberg lists Knoxville, along with New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Omaha, as one of the cities holding immigrant-rights rallies today.

The Highlander Center has details about A Day Without Immigrants actions in Knoxville. Knox News has a report.
