Let's Retire Stacey Campfield (R) in 2006

Update & bump: The General has written another letter to Ku Klux Klan expert, Rep. Stacey Campfield. We fear this most excellent letter is beyond Campfield's limited comprehension, but you dear reader should check it out. And, welcome Jesus General readers.

The obnoxious and barely literate Republican State Rep. Stacey Campfield isn't doing so well at raising money for this year's election. His Republican rival, Gary Drinnen has raised considerably more, and so has his Democratic opponent, Schree Pettigrew. Drinnen reports more than $10,000 compared to Pettigrew's $7,000 plus.

Campfield reports $27.

Campfield made international news when he compared the by-laws of the Legislative Black Caucus to those of the Ku Klux Klan. In response to his racist remarks, the Republican received so many outraged visitors at his blog that he was forced to shut down his comment section. Campfield has been such an embarrassment to his district and to the state that he stands a good chance of being turned out of office after only one term. Let's hope so.

Two Independents are also running against Campfield: Cameron Broyles and David Garrett Jr.

Campfield's Democratic opponent Schree Pettigrew has support from prominent Democrats like state Sen. Rosalind Kurita of Clarksville, a candidate for Bill Frist's seat in the U.S. Senate.

Thanks to David Garrett for the graphic.

UPDATE: The Democrat, Schree Pettigrew just got a website, and according to an email I received from her campaign Field Director, she's gay friendly!
