If Roe v. Wade is Overturned

If Roe v. Wade is Overturned

This map is based on estimates by the Guttmacher Institute. Tennessee falls into the "most likely to protect abortion" because the State Supreme Court ruled that the state constitution protects a woman's right to choose, or safeguards the right to privacy.(Planned Parenthood of Middle Tennessee v. Sundquist, 38 S.W.3d 1 (Tenn. 2000))

Any day now, Republican lawmakers will be introducing yet another proposal for a constitutional amendment to change all that. It's their yearly ritual. Some of these amendments have sought to ban abortion even in cases of rape, incest, or when the procedure would save a woman's life!

The reason the proposed amendments fail every year is because the House is controlled by pro choice Dems. If the House falls to the Republicans this year - due to the Tennessee Waltz scandal - we can expect some dramatic changes.
