Chris Matthews Sounds Like Fox News

Yesterday, Chris Matthews effectively categorized political dissent as treason by casting Michael Moore and Osama bin Laden in the same mold:

"[Bin Laden] sounds like an over the top Michael Moore here, if not a Michael Moore." (Video)

MSNBC's Spitball host, Chris Matthews is apparently striving to curry favor with the Bushies by emulating Faux News. It is never a surprise to hear liberals called traitors on Faux News, but I was somewhat taken aback to hear it from Matthews.

Matt Stoller over at MYDD says Matthews should apologize:

Calling Americans treasonous murderers because of their political views has no place in American politics or journalism. Chris Matthews needs to apologize, now.

Georgia10 over at dkos has an excellent post about our dangerously irresponsible media:

[W]hen another terrorist attack occurs on American soil, they cannot blame us liberals who tried to save this nation. They can only blame the terrorists--and themselves. For time and time again, they've failed to hold our government accountable when it comes to securing our homeland.

Peter Daou posts his own excellent commentary, along with a blog roundup of the Chris Matthews scandal and John Kerry's blistering statement on the subject.
