Americans Support Unions, 60% - 33%

The vast majority of Americans support the collective bargaining rights of public employee unions (60%-33%) and oppose (56% - 37%) cuts to the pay and/or benefits of public employees, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Clearly, Wisconsin's Governor Walker and his followers are greatly out of touch with the majority of Americans:

Governors in both parties have been making the case that public workers are either overpaid or have overly generous health and pension benefits. But 61 percent of those polled — including just over half of Republicans — said they thought the salaries and benefits of most public employees were either “about right” or “too low” for the work they do.
