Sens. Tom Coburn and Jim DeMint are blocking the realization of the long-held dream of a National Women's History Museum.The men's excuses include: 1) Women might someday in the future ask for money for the museum. 2) Some of the women involved in the project might be pro choice. 3) Women already have a Quilters Hall of Fame in Indiana and a National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Texas so what more do we want?
Anyone who knows even a glimmer of women's history is painfully aware that the U.S. Congress has a very long history of devaluing women and suppressing all recognition and knowledge of women's history.
