Apparently there are now 60 votes for the senate's health care 'reform' bill. Ben Nelson is on board because he got another compromise on abortion and because he got a hefty bribe of money for Medicaid in his state, but not in my state, nor in anyone else's. Briefly, here's the latest compromise on abortion: (1) ensure that no public funds will be used for abortion; (2) mandate that every state provide an insurance plan option that does not cover abortion; and (3) gives each state the right to pass a law barring insurance coverage for abortion within state borders. And health care reform is not true reform if it denies women coverage for the full range of reproductive health services. We call on all senators who consider themselves friends of women's rights to reject the Manager's Amendment, and if it remains, to defeat this cruelly over-compromised legislation.
