The Republican party of old white men is suffering from some major male anxiety issues. These guys have gigantic egos so naturally they are peeved when they have to serve as limp backup singers for rock star Sarah Palin. Like earlier today when 13 male Governors lined up on the stage with Sarah Palin for a Republican Governors Press Conference.
And then the press only wanted to talk to the girl.
Oh, the wounded egos! It was so embarrassing, they had to shut down the Republican Governors Press Conference early. Oops, strike that. They had to shut down the Sarah Palin Press Conference.
Poor babies. What did the Grand Old Party of men ever do to deserve this?
Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.
The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity. One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”
Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party." There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.
Politico: Palin was on stage with 13 other Republican governors — all men — who received zero attention from the assembled crowd. After the third question, an RGA aide tried to end the session but Perry interjected and allowed for a fourth question. Palin sought to deflect attention from herself and talk about the governors as a group, but all the questions centered on her past and future.
