Media Ignores Gallup Poll that Shows Hillary as a Winner

Greg Sargent has the story about the media gone wild over the online Zogby poll that has long been recognized as unreliable and generally wrong. The internet poll now finds that Hillary loses to the top Republican contenders. Yet a new and far more reliable Gallup poll finds Hillary beating the top Republicans.

So naturally, the media goes wild over Zogby and ignores Gallup.

Greg Sargent:

The Zogby survey was covered repeatedly on CNN, earned coverage from MSNBC, Fox News, and Reuters and was covered by multiple other smaller outlets. By contrast, I can't find a single example of any reporter or commentator on the major networks or news outlets referring to the Gallup poll at all, with the lone exception of UPI.

I remember well my efforts to persuade my local newspaper to pay attention to the online Zogby poll back when it found that Bush was going to lose in 2004. When the Tennessean finally did mention the Zogby poll, it did so with the caveat that it was an unreliable poll. The sad fact is that many people vote for the candidate who the media proclaims to be the one who will win.

I think Hillary knows very well that she must never ever raise her voice to anything remotely resembling a scream. Nevertheless, the media will do its utmost to discredit the leading Democratic contender, whoever she or he might be. If not for our irresponsible media, Howard Dean would have won the Democratic nomination, and probably the White House.
