Your Vision of the Future of the U.S.?

The Movement Vision Project

Nell Levin of the Tennessee Alliance for Progress has a piece in today's Tennessean which paints a progressive vision of the future of the U.S. It's pretty well the polar opposite of the current state of affairs. It's only an imaginary vision of what we could be. It's a start.

What do you think a progressive America would look like?

Reasonable fuel costs and good schools? It's time to talk about your dreams

You pick up the kids at the free day-care center in the compound near your office. Your 32-hour workweek is over. Since you work on flextime, you avoid the gridlock by getting off the freeways before rush hour. Your gas costs have gone down a lot since the government improved the CAFE standards and you started driving a hybrid car.

. . . Before you downsized, moved, sold your SUV, paid off your credit cards and got your new job, your time was devoured by commuting from the suburbs and working 60 hours per week to pay the mortgage.

Fantasy? Well, what is your vision for the future of the United States?

. . . Sally Kohn of the Movement Vision Project posed this question to 160 activists, and these are some of the ideas that emerged. She will be in Nashville to talk about her findings at 7 p.m. Tuesday at West End United Methodist Church.

If you have a vision for the future of our country, we urge you to attend.
