McCain Picks Campaign Manager Linked to Anti Harold Ford 'Bimbo' Ad
John McCain has picked controversial Terry Nelson to serve as his national campaign manager:
Nelson made political headlines in the 2006 cycle as the strategist tapped to head up the RNC's independent expenditure which was responsible for that extremely controversial ad in Tennessee against Harold Ford, Jr. featuring a young blonde actress portraying a woman who met Ford at a Playboy party and who suggestively asks him to call her at the end of the ad. (It caused enough heartache for one of Nelson's other clients, Working Families for Wal-Mart, that they sought and received his resignation after the episode.) Nelson was also tied up in the recently settled New Hampshire phone jamming case and in Tom DeLay's TRMPAC troubles from his days at the RNC.
Corker owes the prize of heir to the Frist senate seat to the race-baiting 'bimbo' ad, along with the 4 million dollars that the millionaire donated to his own campaign out of his very own pocket.
John McCain apparently learned his lesson after being swiftboated by Bush and his Roving Brain in 2000. The Bush sponsored attacks included the lie that McCain was the father of an 'illegitimate' black child.
John McCain likes to bill himself as a moderate. The so-called moderate supports the complete reversal of Roe v. Wade. The radical conservative was once seen as a 'maverick' or a good-guy Republican. Clearly, the alleged former straight-shooter is prepared to be just as nasty as the company he keeps, or the Bush he sucks up to.
According to the latest National Journal's Insiders Poll, 73% of respondents expect Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will be the 2008 Republican nominee.
