George Clooney for President

The latest performance of the cowering and weak Dems makes it crystal clear that we have an Opposition Party of One in Washington. Maureen Dowd likes Obama for 2008, yet he's proving to be as spineless as the rest of the Dems.

Russ Feingold is the only D.C. Dem who has a spine.

I like Feingold, but I'm inclined to think that it's time to borrow a page from the GOP, and get our candidate from Hollywood. The biggest GOP star in recent history was Reagan, a candidate groomed in Hollywood.

Unlike D.C., there are spines, brains, charisma, name recognition, camera-friendly faces and progressive values in Hollywood. Above all else, the American public likes charisma, name recognition and camera-friendly faces. Hollywood is the place to go for these qualities. Washington is not.

I've been waiting for Robert Redford to step up for years now. He hasn't. But George Clooney might.

An Opposition Party of One:

“I’m amazed at Democrats, cowering with this president’s numbers so low. The administration just has to raise the specter of the war and the Democrats run and hide…too many Democrats are going to do the same thing they did in 2000 and 2004. In the face of this, they’ll say we’d better just focus on domestic issues…[Democrats shouldn’t] cower to the argument, that whatever you do, if you question administration, you’re helping the terrorists.” -- Russ Feingold

Bob Fertik at Democrats.com has the contact info for the Cowardly Dems. Fertik is mounting a campaign to persuade the spineless Dems to sign on to Feingold's effort to censure Bush. Fertik had a similar campaign to persuade the cowardly Dems to filibuster Alito. We know where that went.

Hollywood help us!

Update: The Sideshow has some good links on Feingold's censure effort, including this one: "You might also want to tell news organizations that it's time to do censure polls - just like they did with Clinton." Cursor has more links, and the Reid Report has a good post on Feingold (hat tip to the Dauo Report).
