Obama's waving the white flag again. President Obama has chosen William Daley, a fellow Chicagoan and decidedly non progressive opponent of liberal policy, to be his new Chief of Staff. Daley is the brother of Rahm Emanuel's good Chicago buddy Mayor Daley. He's is a JP Morgan executive and Clinton's former commerce secretary. Daly "opposed pushing forward on health care in 2010, opposed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, believed the Administration should move to the right in late 2009."
The Chamber of Commerce and Republicans love Obama's choice. Adam Green, the co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, has a saner view:
"Bill Daley consistently urges the Democratic Party to pursue a corporate agenda that alienates both Independent and Democratic voters. If President Obama listens to that kind of political advice from Bill Daley, Democrats will suffer a disastrous 2012."
