Republican Quote of the Day & Surge Polls

"I think this speech given last night by this president represents the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam if it's carried out. I will resist it."

Only 12% of Americans support Bush's surge/escalation, according a USA Today/Gallup poll. Presumably, there are more Republicans in the country than 12%, but with Bush's recruiting efforts on behalf of the Democratic Party, maybe not.

85% are in favor of withdrawing — "either immediately (15%), within 12 months (39%) or over as many years as needed (31%)." [via MyDD]

And an Associated Press-Ipsos poll finds that 70% of Americans oppose sending more troops to Iraq. Bush comes in with a job approval rating of 32 percent, which is a new low in AP-Ipsos polling. I think we can look forward to Bush setting all kinds of new low records.
